Re: Bitcoin
They've banned a company owned by Binance operating in the uk. Binance currently doesn't operate in the uk at all. The 'ban' is of no consequence. The FCA are probably trying to make up for the indiscretions around the OneCoin scam where they basically got a load of people scammed by giving an obvious scam firm the green light. The twats.

Re: Bitcoin
Remember I said a few months back on here that the British government might be the first one in the west retarded (or devious) enough to try and ban cryptocurrencies? Well looks like it's beginning: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-27/u-k-financial-regulator-bars-crypto-exchange-binance

ChillTheKeel 7:30 Fri May 21 This drop was nothing to do with China or Elon or any of the other crap that goes around. It was overbought pure and simple. Needed to come back to earth for a while. Too many leveraged longs in a market and someones gonna come along and pull the rug from underneath you.

Re: Bitcoin
Interesting article Camel. That’s a lot of liquidations. Been some analysts kicking Crypto over the past few days (JPM in particular) and some suggestion if rotating into Gold as being a better trade. With markets like Crypto and the big moves presumably stops don’t work. The leverage multiples are pretty eye catching but I guess with big short term movements that can be good money for quick plays. It did make me wonder if the strategy of using the margin liquidation as the bottom barrier and the unlimited upside might be a game some might be playing.

Re: Bitcoin
"Paradise Lost It's not a great mystery. It's inexperienced capital that over leverages and you get these giant liquidation runs. People talk about China and events etc but often (not always) it is a key support level going that causes these falls. Bigger traders also catch the breakout traders and other small traders by causing swing failures as they need liquidity. The bigger trader is quite sophisticated at getting the liquidity it needs to avoid horrendous slippage. It usually falls to a recognised support level, which today is 35K. If it falls through that then there will be a massive downturn."

Why does it fall whenever the media report that China is 'cracking down on BTC' again for the billionth time? It's not news.

"Cheezey hear what you are saying but in the past hour its gone down 10%. Generally thats considered a dump, but for Crypto its a mid (US) morning burp. The range on the day is 37,096.574 - 42,172.17 a 14% range."

"Nice that we're all getting on so well... BTC seems to have stabilised for now. Hopefully it has hit bottom. One of these days, it will dump and I'll be ready for it. Until around new year, BTC had been on a long slow climb. Then there was a period of volatility and all time highs, sparked in part by Musk's tweets. That volatile period looks to have ended. Hopefully now it continues as before for a while."

"True Dagenham but the Chinese message was ramped up. To quote Counbase ‘China’s crypto warning on Tuesday may look similar to previous notices. However, it conveys a pointed message to commercial banks and payment companies that have been friendly to crypto-related businesses.’ ‘ The National Internet Finance Association of China, the China Banking Association and the Payment and Clearing Association of China published a notice saying member financial institutions should not provide services to crypto-related transactions or investment funds’ That doesn’t kill Crypto in China, but it doesn’t help. Add in the US statement (including Biden’s) about potentially making Crypto transactions over $10k reportable to the IRS and there is a slow drip of tightening."
