General Election - July 2024

Post twoleftfeet »

This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

"Thanks for your, as usual, well thought out comments NaG. Many pensioners, those that are in receipt of occupational pensions, have benefitted from Tory largesse and have had a regular Christmas present and now this non means tested gift is being removed. Pensioners whose income is supplemented will still have a winter fuel allowance to people like NaG won’t go short."

"I don't see comma as a struggling pensioner, so he's likely to be one oof the ones worse off. ""Even more fun to see the absolute silence from the likes of Vorderman, Lineker and Neville as they systematically fuck over old people and benefit scroungers in a way that even the most right wing of conservative governments wouldn’t have done."" I can't imagine they'll be able to stick their heads in the sand for 4/5 years, but you're right, it'll be fun watching them squirm."

"Great to see a Chancellor, of a party not in thrall to already well off pensioners, using money that will benefit the electorate at large. Next thing to do is remove the triple lock such that the people in work, the people who’s taxes help support the elderly, don’t experience being left behind in terms of earnings compared to pensioners."

"I wouldn’t take as gospel some second hand hearsay on a football forum about Labour clamping down on benefits scroungers, Stewie son. After all, benefits scroungers are part of Labour’s ‘client base’ (as well as public sector workers and immigrants). That said, perhaps they have done some analysis and realised benefits scroungers either don’t vote or turned their back on Labour and have gone to Reform/ the Workers Party etc."

"Great to see a Conservative government in power at last. Reeves is quite laughable, mind. Boldy announced that they had full access to the public finances, that all plans were fully costed and that there would be no need to raise any taxes…then uncovers a mysterious £20 billion black hole that the IFS said should have been clear to anyone with a functioning braincell. £10 bn of that is the 5.5% NHS pay rise, and another £4 bn is the hotel bill for asylum seekers…fun to watch anyone try to wriggle out of those. She’s either Kwarteng levels of stupid, or just flat out lied to get into power. Or both. Fun to watch. Even more fun to see the absolute silence from the likes of Vorderman, Lineker and Neville as they systematically fuck over old people and benefit scroungers in a way that even the most right wing of conservative governments wouldn’t have done. Keep up the good work, Keir son."

claret on my shirt 10:19 Wed Jul 31 I suspect those in the country not eligible for a UK passport will be exempt from any such cuts. Caring. That's what Labour do.

"My sister is reasonably senior at the DWP, word going round from above is, Starmer and his cronies will be coming down hard on benefits pretty soon. Better than robbing the old as they did the other day. There be many more stealth taxes coming from this lot as well. Can't wait for some of the Labour voters to moan about it,"

Is that right the new Labor gov’t are cutting the winter allowance for pensioners to the tune of 1.2 billion pounds while announcing billions for climate change? How about reducing the hand outs the the illegals ffs! How much more can people in the UK tolerate? It’s outrageous what they are doing!

"Olympics on, hot summer weather, holiday season, atrocity in Southport. A convenient day for Reeves to bury the news that she is taking away winter fuel payments from pensioners in one of her first acts as Chancellor."

Again today Labour MP's following same script in every interview. I almost get the sense some of them fear losing whip if Starmer catches them not mentioning the Conservatives. Everything is in turmoil and Labour will sort it all out not that history has ever shown they do. Everything is easy in Government as far as Starmer is concerned but will of course come at a cost.

"Side, it's funny, you're a person who appears to have no opinion on anything, you just hang around this forum waiting for me to post so you can use your 'raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay' childish label and cսnt me off without actually saying anything tangible. But hey, it's what I come to expect from some of the people on here, no real opinions, they just enjoy the cunting off, it's ok though, just leave the discussions to the grown ups whilst you search for an emoji to let us know what you're thinking."
