Julen Lopetegui Press-Conference | Fulham v West Ham (youtube.com)Got to admit I really struggle to listen to him. Incredibly boring man. For all Moyes faults at least his pressers had a splattering of dry wit and the odd dead panning answers to some of the stupid questions he was asked. I've given up trying to listen to Lopetegui.
Anyone who listens to ANY manager's press conferences is a complete and utter sad act. You can have that for nowt.
Who would want to waste their precious time listening to 'loser Lop' drone on in broken English. Get a life!

Agree, I can't listen to him it is 100% an absolute waste of time. And now these are on a Thursday for some reason there is even less chance of him something mildly interesting.
The potential problem with having such a dullard as your manager is that if results are poor there is nothing else to fall back on, i.e if he is a bit of a character, has some interesting soundbites, buys into the fans, the club etc it might just buy him a little more time.

Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
If he had come off the bench for England only once this wouldn't even be a conversation.
I suppose the modern day woke view would be it's up to him, let him do as he pleases etc, but West Ham have been very good for Antonio, life changing, so at this point at 34 IMO he should be giving everything to the club. Travelling half way around the world to play for Steve McClaren in pointless matches is all a bit of a joke. We have a big game on Saturday, the Fulk is injured and this joker is sat on a plane somewhere very far away, and for what?

Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
I don't begrudge Antonio at all, it's only the last couple of years he has had an international career, throw in he's at the end of his career as well he maybe just making the most of it?
Shearer and others had an almost full career playing international football as well as for their Clubs, so they been there and done it as it where, every international break and every other summer on England duty, can see why they gave it away, maybe just wanted more home time as well, Antonio on the other hand maybe sees it as his last hurrah and jolly with the boys, not like Jamaica will seriously challenge for anything.
West Ham need to move on from Antonio as well, he's led the line for far too long, as much as i like him though we keep going back to him (injuries etc) and relying on him, right now i would throw in Ings ahead of him, maybe not everyone's view but if the big Kraut out for at least Fulham, bench Antonio and throw him on with 20 to go if needed, or play Kudus or Bowen as the false 9 up top?

Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
Was listening to Gary from the old C&B, now The Bobby Moore Stand on YT, he's not at all happy with Antonio still globe trotting at 34 for pretty much pointless games and coming back fucked and all while he is still pretty much first choice and therefore harming our options/chances in games such as Fulham on Saturday. Made the point that at 34 he should now pack it in and just focus on West Ham, that he's had his 'fun' and cited other players in the past, like Vardy and Shearer, who quit the international set up to fully focus on their clubs.
Does he have a point? Is Antonio being a bit of a selfish prick? I think he does, and Antonio needs to pack it in at this point. I think his fairly lengthy spell out least season was with an injury he picked up playing for the Reggae boys? Maybe he's enjoying Steve McClown's Jamaican accent too much to walk away.

Would go with this team as well. Wasn't a fan of playing Bowen upfront last season, but think it's worth another try with a different style of football and a proper left sided attacker in Summerville. Will go 1-2, Bowen and Kudus getting the goals.
Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
This is the team I would go for, too.
Personally, quite impressed with Summerville, has some work to do as I think he may have similar problem to Benrahma with his decision making. But I am optimistic about him. Mixed feelings about Paqueta. Definitely creates more chances by far than any other option we have there, but he really is a liability too. Despite his work rate as mentioned here, we were very lucky not to concede twice from his give aways in the City game.
I go for a 2-2 all draw.

Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
These games after an international week are always a bit problematic
Paqueta played in Paraguay in the early hours of this morning ... 1-0 defeat, 79 mins , yellow card ... so who knows what state he will be in
Was Kudus away?
Bowen only played a few minutes last night in London so not a problem
Antonio scored the winner from the pen spot in Honduras ... think the game was last night our time
Alvarez was allowed to stay home which was a bonus
Might go with Bowen through the middle & the caution of Alvarez and Guido I suspect
Possibly Soucek as well though I'd use Soler
Havent really watched Fulham but obviously no Palinha any more
We conceded 5 at Palace, Fulham & Chelsea in the dog days of Moyes
Turned Palace around with a clean sheet .... same again at Fulham with a 2-0?

Re: Fulham vs. West Ham United 14 September - team and score predictions
Paqueta has been frustrating, no doubt, but I'd give him a bit longer. he's a bit like a modern day John Moncur for me, works his butt off with a spark of real ability now and again.
Summerville, far from convinced, but we need to find out what he can do, so yep I'd give him a start.
A big problem though is we lack pace between defense and up top, and no real top class ball carrier, which is where we miss Rice.

Paqueta may not be st his best but that fraud worked his bollocks off against City and played our best three passes, one of which led to our goal.

I forgot about Soucek. He will probably start instead of Soler and Soler will probably be on the bench instead of Orford or Casey.
Yes, I would drop Paqueta after his awful start to the season. Bloke's a fraud.

Agree with Sydney, Paq, Soucek and Mav to keep their spots, Jimmy on the bench.
Apparently Dinos was very good for Greece this week, we may well get our monies worth on him yet.
As for the score, who fucking knows, could easily go either way, but fuck it we have a decent record there and no reason why we can't take the spoils if we click. 1-2

Fuck me 1-1? That's optimistic for you COYI.
Not sure Paqueta gets dropped just yet so Summerville won’t start, think Mavros keeps his place as well but would be a tight call and Todibo may well get the nod.
Not sure Solar goes straight in either, and don’t think Soucek gets dropped? Unless I have missed something and he picked up an injury on Czech duty as you don’t have him on the bench even.
Edit…..Oh, and I’m going a 3-1 to WHU, you know it makes sense…..
