Getting older (Gout)

Fucking ouch, what a horrible condition. Been suffering from what I think is gout for the last few weeks, absolutely crippling, made it very hard to get around at work and home.
Read up on the main medication and its side effects so checked online (NHS and other places) and saw that sour cherry juice or dried fruit can help instead. Bought some online polish concentrated sour cherry juice that was delivered today, fuck me what a difference already just from one shot.
How are you old cunts?

Gout is a complete show-stopper when you get it properly... nasty...
Allopurinol is a preventative measure, no use once you've got an attack.
The very best 'cure' for gout is Etoricoxib (brand name Arcoxia), but it is on the red list in the UK.
This is supposedly to do with its possible side effects re coronary and other issues etc, but it is no worse that most other COX-2 Inhibitors, and I have it on good authority that the main reason GPs don't want to prescribe it is to do with cost...
Funny GPs should give a shit about Etoricoxib side effects, but are paid handsomely to inject us with the deadly Covid mRNA jabs... my local GP has texted me 13 (THIRTEEN) times trying to get me in there for Flu and Covid jabs. He has more chance of pushing butter up a porcupine's arse with a red hot needle...
Here's a very interesting one if you are patient and sit through it...

A pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies. Was going to suggest Cherry Juice but you've already cracked that one.
Hit me out of the blue when I was living in Bangkok about 20 years ago and had most of the people I knew scouring the streets for cherry juice.
Given that a lot of those people were working bar girls, with English as a second language, they all found amusement when handing the juice over using the phrase "I only give my cherry to you for free", or variants thereof.
It became a little "in" joke for a while at some of the bars in Soi Cowboy...
Oxbore you are the gift that just keeps giving, fat old brass bonking crippled up with gout and STDs

Did you get a boner while writing that?
Did you think it would be as impressive as your immature attempts to join the night crew on here?
You will never be accepted as anything other than a comedy poster - an unfunny, desperate to be seen as the voice of reason, comedy poster at that.

Not nice.
I've had a few flare ups and it's amazing how you take your big tow for granted
Good news is, lot of medication these days helps

I'd have three pints of Guinness with a couple of glasses of Port.
To do what, get gout or prove that a real fanny-magnet stud of a man doesn't ever suffer from such a girly itch?

Isn't it caused by one of the normal acids present in the body crystallising in the joint, thereby triggering a pain sensation for virtually every motion?
Very unpleasant but no need to "Man up" - I survived it.

Suffered with Gout for over 20 years, finally started taking Allopurinol once a day last year and it’s certainly made a difference. Still get twinges but nothing like a full blown attack, which is extremely debilitating.
Mainly I had attacks in my big toe but also had it in elbow and knee, fucking awful condition and I feel sorry for anyone who suffers from it.
I will also add that I’ve been virtually teetotal for around 10 years and have a fairly healthy diet so fuck knows what causes it.

Absolutely awful, had it once and it was agony second only to a tooth abscess and face swelling. Luckily GP sorted it and the pain only lasted a few days.
Genuine sympathy for anyone that has had gout, very painful

Yeah, I agree that Red Meat and Alcohol are a factor. I’ve had it a couple of times first time was the worst. Even when a thin sheet of linen touched my big toe I’d be yelling. Thankfully it only lasted 2 days.
I found out a couple of years ago me and my sisters have a genetic condition called haemochromatosis. It’s where the body doesn’t get rid of the Iron in your body. Supposed be common with people with Celtic ansestry so I had to go to hospital every 2 weeks to get a pint of blood taken out. Down to normal levels now though so don’t have to go back till next year. Specialist has said cause for the gout was this condition. Told me to minimise meat and alcohol.

Red wine, and more often port and sherry are significant triggers, so don't trifle with UB40

I started getting gout when I was about 25. It's not an old person's thing.
Harry Kewell used to get it during his playing days.
It's entirely down to too much MEAD.
Allopurinol.
Colchicine (quick remedy for a bad gout attack)
Cherry juice, beetroot, an occasional glass of water with enough bicarbonate of soda to be able to taste it.

Get your GP to prescribe you Allopurinol and you'll be sorted, though I keep a bottle of Black Cherry extract capsules in case of an emergency.
