  • March 12:      The monster succeeded in proceeding to Grenoble.
  • March 13:      The tyrant is now in Lyon. Horror has caught the people.
  • March 18:      The usurper is some days march distant from Paris.
  • March 19:      Bonaparte approaches in a hurry, but he will not succeed in advancing to Paris.
  • March 20:      Napoleon will be in Paris tomorrow.

  • March 22:      Yesterday evening His Majesty celebrated his arrival in Paris. The jubilation cannot be described.

What’s this thread about?

If it’s supposed to be making fun of people who are concerned about the way the US and the world is going now we have Trump in the White House again, have you really thought it through?

I mean, it suggests you don’t even know who Napoleon Bonaparte was and what happened after his arrival in Paris. Or aren’t we allowed to even make the association between the two ego maniacs or draw any lessons from history about populism at all?

it's a bit silly the Trump thread was locked, obviously there's going to be a talking point around it every other day. just suspend the people that can't control themselves for a few days and let everyone else get on with it

Like a variant of that Gandhi quote that Farage is fond of, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win"

It was a series of headlines from the French press at the time.  You can take it any way you choose, but your take is not where I was coming from (bigly)

Are you suggesting Trump will dismantle the US constitution and anoint himself 'supreme leader' a la Napoleon and other dictators?

Grow up.
