Given how coveted a player he was, and the fact we're committed to spending 40m on him, I'd suggest that adds more leverage than it should (lose 20m binning off an unhappy player or 10m binning off the manager whose underperforming anyway).

Would love to be a fly in the wall in the board meeting when Steidten present what is no doubt some kind of 'get rid' dossier.

I doubt people like the drama. Most want to watch games, be entertained and hope for a cup run or two, and giving the other clubs a run for their money. In fact, most of us don’t care about the finances or the drama, we have enough of that in our personal lives. West Ham is meeting up with mates, having a laugh, putting life’s struggles behind you, and maybe see the boys get a result.
