Far too much is usually made on here about referees, and I very rarely use it as an excuse, but he was absolutely fucking shocking last night, Caicedo was constantly fouling but wasn't booked, the Ezo potential leg breaker on Irving, can someone tell me how the fuck that was looked at? 1 quick replay on Sky?

When Gary Neville is going on for 10 minutes about how poor the Bowen incident was before the goal, you know it's bad.

Until that point, I thoroughly enjoyed how we were playing, without 4 nailed on starters. Until he tired, I thought Irving was excellent, the way he made himself available with clever movement and his passing, considering he's not been starting, was superb. For me, when the others are back, Soucek should be dropped, we'll be a much better passing team.

Not only is he a liability but those two lame shots he made at the end were wasteful and poor decision making. Orford was looking a bit out of his depth when he came on, that might not have been the best game and the best time to have brought him on. 

But quite happy with the way things are going so far. We were in the game up until the final whistle and it was an enjoyable game to watch, so looking forward to going to the next home game. Been a while since I felt like that.

I'm disappointed we lost. I thought Chelsea were poor.

Irving was ok, but should have gone off after 60. Id sooner start him than rodriguez. Guilherme is quality. Perhaps the scarf did find a couple of gems? Shame we didn't get early rounds of Europa or more of a run in the cups as it would have been perfect for these two. Keep both, maybe loan out.

Looking much more cohesive. Potter has worked wonders. The appointment of floppy for has to be the worst bit of west ham business of all time. And some were feeling sorry for the way he was sacked. He should be in the car crusher.

We'll have to beat arsenal then . .

Good performance plenty of positives to take from that considering the players we had missing. 

Pleased for Irving, thought he did well in a tough game to make your full debut. We looked alot more organised and the workrate was nice to see. We still give away far too many shots though. 

Think with some of the big hitters returning there will be some good games for us now till the end of the season, nice to see youngsters again on the pitch last night at the end even if they did look a bit out their depth. 


We deserved a point, and the game turned on the first goal for me......its an absolutely diabolical decision not to award the foul on Bowen. The ref should be sent to league one for a month if he has missed that.....and then VAR not stepping in? What is the point of VAR if they are going to let goals go in for stuff like that. 

As I have said many times before, scrap VAR it has not benefited the game at all. 

What do we think of the back 3 last night?
I think we were defensively pretty sound in the first half.  
Makes me wonder whether we need to play Mav if Todibo isn’t available. 

it may not be worth the clanger a game just to have a back 4?

 

If you put it into perspective it's not a bad result.

We had a back 3 of Coufal, Kilman, Cresswell.  Which is far from ideal, and yet they were quite fortunate with their goals and we defended reasonably well.

I get the concerns over Kudus.  He has started to give the ball away too often and in dangerous areas.  He seems to play the same way in our penalty box as he does in the opponents and too many times it's almost cost us a goal.  Reminds me of how Paqueta was playing most of last season and first half of this season.

I actually thought Andy Irving played alright as well. Pleased for him really. I don’t get why he was never given a start before?

Great team work. 

Good football, brave, wanted the ball in tight spaces, worked their socks off for each other and the badge.

WIth a deeper squad would have taken 3 points. 

Finally looked like we had a style of play.

It's good to be competitive again it's been a while and with 1/2 a squad . Chelsea at full strength last night we weren't . Onwards and upwards we are in games again after a shit 2024 bar Europe

Played well and deserved something out of the game, bodes well for remainder of the season. 

Disappointing to lose after going in front, and I'm not going down the 'plucky losers' route, you can fuck off with that shit. I'm not blaming the ref either. 

Positives are we are clearly more organised now and have stopped conceding 4's and 5's. First half was good, second half was a struggle and couldn't carve out any real chances. Overall it was alright, but fuck me we really do have a lot of shit at this club.

Was good to see the Brazilian get involved and he looked confident, pleased he has stayed and he needs more game time for the remainder of the season.

Potter could do with a win against Brentford, what with Arsenal after that.

Thats definitely not the game I watched.

 

That annoyed me. People's interpretation of a game is so warped. Low block football kinda means you make no attempt to keep or progress the ball, the minute you lose it you get back into your low block and stay there. Thats not what we were doing.

We kept it tight and were a bit more conservative.

Our goal came from pressing them and they made a mistake, not from some counter attack.

overall I’m happy with the performance, we were competitive which is refreshing although the commentators were all Chelsea which was annoying.

I can see the vast improvement in our performances which is the most important thing. 
Chelsea were over the moon they ponced a result in the end which says a lot.

Couldn't watch due to being at a work offsite, but sounds like we put up a fight and their win was ultimately a bit lucky. Seems like Potter is getting a tune out of them, cant wait until he gets some reinforcements in and then we'll see what he can do. 

Frusterating...and that is before you get to the decisions.

Worried about Kudus, he get the rest when everyone is back we get Ferguson up to speed.  Some really decent areas but he would have at tested the keeper last year.

Lacking at centre back and still midfield, Chelsea just had too much time to play around.

Still some really nice effort and Bowen makes a huge difference, - shocking, I know.

In hindsight Potter should have made the subs as soon as chelsea went ahead and those subs should've included Guillerme over Ings.

However, the improvement since Potter came in, over what Lop was serving up is like night and day. We'd have got spanked tonight if the soppy Spaniard was still here.
