Most important West Ham goals in the last 20 years?

Just thinking about some of the important goals scored in the last two decades and what springs to mind.

1. Bowen v Fiorentina. Obvious choice.

2. Zamora v Preston - Had he not scored that goal, who knows how we would have ended up.

3. Reid v Man United - The last game and goal at Upton Park. Monumental.

4. Vaz Te v Blackpool - Another huge goal in recent history, significant because it’s the last time we’ve had to fight for promotion, and a cup final win at Wembley.

5. Stanislas v Millwall - League Cup game, losing up until the 87th minute when he pops up and grabs the equaliser. First time we’d beaten Millwall since the late 80s/early 90s I think.

Yours?

I still can not understand why Lloris wasn't sent off in that game when he wiped out Lanzini just outside the box in the first half.
So a goal that stopped Spurs winning the league is more important than the winner in a cup/play-off final?

Kanoute's goal was the 5th round.

WTF is he on about semi final?

The Cambridge home game was fantastic, I ran on and picked up a piece of turf and brought it home to Sussex via the tube and train in a crisp packet. I planted it in my parents garden and as far as I'm aware it's still there.

As for goals all been said really -

Bowen vs Fiorentina
Harewood vs Middlesborough
Tevez vs Man Utd
Zamora vs Preston
Vaz Te vs Blackpool

That was the same cup run we beat Man Utd during the ‘Taxi for Barthez’ goal.

We then proceeded to lose at home to Tottenham
I was absolutely gutted when we lost to Spurs, I was convinced we were going to get to the final that year.

Very good thread.

And agree with the list - Especially the play-off goals as they do underpin our current PL status and what little we have achieved since. Without those goals we could be another Leeds, Sheff Utd, Boro, Blackburn and all other big clubs that yo-yo.

I mean, I could list special goals and goals that mean more to me individually. But your list is spot IMO.

I would however, like to mention Kanoute's goal at Sunderland in semi final. Gave us our last day in the sun on FA cup final day!

Its 1993. I’m 14. I grew up in Cambridge and had to witness West Ham lose at the abbey stadium earlier in the season and was taunted by all my mates. It’s now the last game of the season and we need to beat Cambridge at Upton back to go up - and for me to have revenge. It’s was the most nervous I’ve been watching a game. 0-0 at half time. Thankfully David Speedie pops up early in the second half with the first. Clive Allen added another but that first goal gave me so much relief. Thank fuck for David speedie.
Are you me?! All that is exactly true of me as well.
That’s mad!
Isn’t it! I remember being gutted about the Cambridge away game. Embarrassing. And going on the pitch after the home game.

Not read through but all are great goals for different reasons, as to importance then we have only ONE stand outs in my opinion and that was Zamora against Preston as had we lost that game im not sure we would even be in the PL right now? Could also be argued that Vaz Te against Blackpool was also crucial, but i think we had pulled ourselves together a bit better by then, the 2005 playoff win was a different story..........

And for me, 2016 FA Cup, Ogbonna scores in the last minute of extra time to knock out Liverpool ;

.
I thought our name was on the cup that year. We were absolutely robbed against Man U IIRC who went on to win it. Only Everton and Palace was the route after that.
Me too. In my mind, has we not got cheated in the semi at Old Trafford, we’d have won the cup that year. We were flying.

I was in the upper-tier behind the goal for the Payet goal. They cover over two or three rows, but nearly went over the top as I was at the front.

Great day, that.

Older readers? I doubt there's ever been a poster on WHO that doesn't remember that ffs, average age on here is probably about 58

I not only remember it I actually claim an assist.  I screamed at Carrick that Matty was on as he was about to take the corner he looked dirctly over to where i was, looked at Matty and the rest is history.  Got totally mobbed when we scored.  Greatest moment for me as a fan.  Greatest game has to be Prague, Bowens goal was coolness personifed.  Going totally mental just yards away from the Fiorentina fans as well.  Brilliant days.

First London derby at the London Stadium was Chelsea in the League Cup, which Lanzini again pops up and scores the winner. Old Little Jewel scored a fair few important goals.

Cheating here, but three important goals in one match; Liverpool away 2015/16. LANZINI, Noble and Sakho for our first away win there since the 1960s.

Lanzini's other one against Spurs think first game at the OS to stop them winning the league.

Lanzini's equaliser v Spurs.  Maybe not that important but gave me so much joy and sent the Spurs fans into a literal melt down, which gave me further joy.
