One thing I did notice today is that we could have done with a young Angello Ogbonna, ie a left sided centre back. That's probably why Potter has given Cress a go there. Why? Well I can't decide on Killman. Started season well but dropped off along with everyone else. Has got better again recently but even though i'm not sure on his defending he does have a range of passing on him that's best suited to the middle of a back three. Mav did ok today but his long raking passes tend to end up in the arms of the opposition goal keeper but Killman is at least by definition of today's terms a ball playing defender. If you can get two quality defenders flanking him I think there is a player in there. Was hoping Todibo was one but fitness seems to be an issue.

Even Carragher said free kick on Paqueta as he was clearly shoved but our own fans think those cunts getting away with murder is his fault.
Pretty sure he criticised Paq for going over easy in a dangerous area.
Not sure about this comment I see a lot that Potter has only sorted us defensively by going 5-4-1/3-5-2. Lopetegui tried it a few times and made us worse defensively!
Today was fine, especially second half. Even Carragher was saying we deserved to be level, possibly even in front. Two clear fouls for the winner, especially on Paqueta. He of course never helps himself, but that 100% gets given up the other end, and 9/10 times generally.
As well as we played in the second half possession wise we never really looked like scoring.
Another defeat is what goes in the record book and we now sit fourth from bottom.
A massive overhaul is needed and whether Potter has the ability and whether Sullivan has the ambition I have my doubts.
I really enjoyed the game today, was a good watch and on another day we could have scored 4.
I struggle to give Potter credit though, I feel like his mistakes cost us the win rather than his decisions making us competitive.
- His subs were poor both in timing and application.
- Starting Scarles against Salah was criminal, more so with Kilman behind him. Could have destroyed a promising players career before its begun.
- The late deployment of Fullkrug made no sense given the times the ball made the 6 yard box with no one there.
- taking off Soler was harsh as he was very lively and despite not being worth the money it takes to sign him, he’s a lovely little player.
- why on earth can’t they get Todibo fit? He looks like he spends half the week eating McDonald’s for dinner,
- From a positive sense, after screaming for Scarles to be changed in the first half hour, I accept it was the right thing to do to keep him on an hour. He did better and Salah tired. But he still should not have started.
- Bowen and Kudus were busy, Kudus quite obviously trying to showcase useless skills at inappropriate times to push for a move this summer, he can go with my blessings if we get £60m or more.
- Paq played well, frustrating but he was good. He can also go if we get £50m or more.
- JWP slows us down with his sideways passing and makes Noble look like a world beater, but he is tidy. He can go if we get a bid of £10m or more.
- Guilherme looks raw but very lively. He must be kept and prioritised to start in his natural position.
- Fullkrug ideal to stay on next season, he’ll become a fan favourite and doesn’t need pace so we’ll get a good 2-3 seasons from him of 10+ goals a year if he stays fit.
We all know the weaknesses of Areola, Mavros & Kilman.
AWB decent as always.
wasn’t meaning for this to go so long so will
sign off here.
In conclusion though, sell everyone apart from Todibo (get him off the Big Macs), AWB & Bowen (and the young lads Guilherme, Scarles, Potts, Earthy etc), and replace with 10-12 great players and we’ll be back in top 6 next season easy!

Performance was encouraging but the result was frustrating.
Why do we need to wait until going a goal down before we start playing?
if Potter can sort those dodgy first half performances out and get the players we need in the summer we have the makings of a good first 11. He has work to do but again second half shows there is promise.
Yep - he’s annoyingly bad at getting his starting tactics right. Most games. To his slight credit, he does adjust sooner than many managers. But his instincts (his starting approach) are poor.

Happy with the way that we played and a pity we didn’t get a point out of it. Certainly a lot better than the previous two games against them.
I’d certainly give the manager a transfer window, or two, before joking any ‘OUT’ ’ crowd. They seem to be the same ‘fans’ who wanted Moyes out, when 3 years qualifying for Europe and a European trophy wasn’t enough.
But after he shuffled a few things around, I thought we looked much better. Paq ran the midfield for large chunks of the game. So it was a shame that he wasn’t stronger in the build up to their second.
We lost narrowly to the champions-elect. So I’m not reading too much into it.
But overall (since Jan) Potter has made us worse, not better, so far. Tightening us up at the back simply by going 5-4-1 or 5-3-2 was the easy bit. He needs to start showing that he can deliver goals and points. We were 14th when Lope got sacked. We’re now better only than the three shite relegated sides.
Usually Liverpool away is an embarassing afternoon, not today I thought we played well both halves.
I thought Paqueta and JWP both had good games as did Bissaka and Kudus.
Not sure why JWP gets so much abuse, he’s a tidy little player.
Even the Bubble had a good game, although he should have scored with the header.
We hit the woodwork twice, Fulkrig looks to be a keeper and Bowen should have scored. Guilherme had himself a good run out too, he was looking for the ball and running at their defence, looks promising.
The ref gave them the game although he didn’t give them a penalty for the JWP handball which usually would have been given at Anfield.
Overall I’m pleased with the effort and performance, a good game to watch. Let’s keep it up.
All those calling for Potter out need to fuck off!
Is it too cynical to say if Fullkrug had pushed Van Dijk in the back before heading in for US to win it that Madley would broken his neck getting the whistle in his mouth?
VAR is a waste of time when you are at Anfield

Very frustrating and game management cost us in the end as the old adage of you are at your most vulnerable after you have scored rang true. Not a foul on Paqueta for me, he should have been stronger, which is a shame because he had a good second half. Reality is though we looked good when Liverpool sat back but as soon as they upped a gear we couldn't deal with it.
Yep, it's like we poked the bear and it was like the fucking alamo thereafter.

That said a narrow defeat at a ground which has only given us one win in over 60 years and at least we weren't hammered, which is what it looked like it could be in the first half. Great pity as I felt a draw at least was deserved.

We should cheat more, seems the only way to get anything these days.
Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea are always at it, numbers game with it paying off enough to get them a few extra points over a season.
Really quite angry after that. A night and day performance when compared with the type of set up we have gone for previously in that fixture, commentary team were desperate for Liverpool to score another hatful.

Hahaha Coufal tells the ref to fuck off after being shown a bullshit yellow for nothing. Ref has totally won them this match.
Yes, there 2nd goal was just a series of fouls ignored to help their attack until they scored. Paqueta didn't help, if he hadn't done theatrics in response to the foul on him, we might have got a free kick, and no corner from which they scored.

Even when we play well up there we end up losing. Cheating ref cost us. Paq went down too easily to that challenge but if he’d been in red it would have been a foul. It’s so frustrating because the least we deserved from that was a draw.
