WHUFC West Ham vs Southampton | PL | 19.4.25 | Predictions & Match Thread

Post stubbo »

So it's the worst team in the league against the 4th worst team in the league...should be a cracker!

It would be very West Ham to scrape a 1-1 draw, or even worse, fall to a scrappy 1-0 defeat, but I'm hopeful we'll be better than that.

Prediction: 2-0

Expect Potter to go for a ball playing lineup, all be it not what we would like.
Areola

Wan Bissaka Todibo Kilman Scarles

Soler JWP Paqueta

Bowen Kudus Guilherme
Would obviously like to see Füllkrug start, but sounds like he won't be risked. Can't much see the point in giving Ferguson any game time since we know he's not staying...so hoping rather than Soucek coming in, he gives Guilherme the nod.

COYI.

So basically he's saying Potter doesn't have the dressing room.

Just end this farce now. He's got to go.

Striker Fullkrug, a summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, was left "very angry" by the team's lack of togetherness and the manner in which they lost momentum after taking the lead through Jarrod Bowen."It’s a mindset problem," he said. "Very angry today. Not disappointed, just angry about what we did after the goal."It was difficult to bring the boys back to push up. We didn’t push up anymore. We tried but we didn’t have the ability or motivation to push up again. "I’m very, very angry that we played like this. It’s not the first time that we scored a goal, and the next goal-kick we just shoot the ball long, we don’t try to play football anymore. We just sink. "That’s not the way we want to play. Why can we play 65 minutes before with possession, but then score and after that half of the team try to score again, and the other half of the team just try to defend very deep?"That’s not the way it works. We have to find a way to have togetherness, to have the idea of where we want to go and what we want to do. "The coach is very clear about what he wants, but we have to do it all. Everyone has to do it."

That was a spineless gutless cowardly performance, although the manager requires patience he won't get any if he keeps churning out dribble like today.

Hell of a rant from Fullkrug. Rate it to be honest. States the retreating and sitting back is not Potter’s instructions and he is clear in what he tells them. This is a mentality issue. He said it was 50/50 of players trying to kick on and sitting back. There are players who have known no other style for 4 years. It’s engrained in them.

Shocking first half and you could argue the second was worse
Score then allow Southampton (already relegated Southampton) to dominate us through the midfield
Another 5 mins & may have lost
In a season of abysmal performances that was right up there.

In truth though, the vast majority of these players Potter has inherited, and he is prlooking at them and shaking his head, let’s move at least 6 on and allow Potter to bring in who he wants during the summer.

Agree, I'd add more to that. The rot started under Moyes and we are an anti football side that cant even muster a performance against the bottom side who are relegated. I'd love to know how this moron of a manager motivates them. If it stays like this next few games then I wouldnt keep him or give him a window. I'd throw him out. He was awful at Chelsea and after a long time out he has come back exactly the same.
I'm not an impatient person but you see improvement in most teams with a new manager. I think we have got worse, at least from a  attacking perspective.

Haha! I think you're in love. Zero assists in 38 games, but yea he's been ''involved'' in some goals :-)
In fairness he often 'assists the assist'....provides the through ball from deep that sets the team away on the counter, quarterback style.

He remains our most creative outlet, and the only player with the vision to pick the pass to get us away.
Yep exactly that, lots of times this season but it doesn't count... Could have happened a couple of times today.. But they fucked it up.. He gets blamed for us letting in goals when he fucks up even though there's a couple of passes after, rightly so most of the time, so he can also be credited with us scoring goals when he does stuff like today when they result in goals

Not sure why Manuel asked me how he was doing when he was having a good game if not for a snide dig...

But hey whatever gets him off

Not the finest 90 minutes I've watched.  And imo Potter's substitutions bordered on the criminally insane. Not quite up there with the time Moyes took Antonio off when we were bossing the game and leading 3-1 at Newcastle but giving that decision a close run for it's money.

Leading the worst team the PL has ever seen he decides to play a holding gamne and give the initiative to Southampton who took adv antage of his generosity.
