Died this morning aged 88.

Managed to hang on until Easter Sunday.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.May they rest in peace. Amen.

May their soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Got fed up of the coverage on the news. Hours and hours of them repeatedly saying, in a polite and roundabout way, "he was a bit less of a cսnt than the other popes, wasn't he?" Knew they had ran out of things to say when they excitedly announced "breaking news!" which was - they're going to put him in his coffin at 8pm tonight.

I spend a lot of time in Ireland and there is a serious shortage of priests. They have to retire at 75 now, and no one wants to join up. They are discussing the handover of a lot of the work to volunteers/parishioners; and importing priests from Brazil etc. I expect the next pope will be African or Filipino to reflect the decline of interest in Europe.

A Woke Pope? Seems about the way the world is going.

Hope they've got the appropriate carbon credits for all that climate damaging smoke they're pumping into the atmosphere.

Bill Clinton and the Pope die on the same day, and due to some administrative foul up, Clinton gets sent to heaven and the Pope gets sent to hell. The Pope explains the situation to the hell administration, they check their paperwork, and the error is acknowledged. They explain, however, that it will take about 24 hours to make the switch.

The next day, the Pope is called in and the hell administration bids him farewell and he heads for heaven.

On the way up, he meets Clinton on the way down, and they stop to chat.

Pope: Sorry about the mix up.

Clinton: No problem.

Pope: Well, I'm really excited about going to heaven.

Clinton: Why's that?

Pope: All my life I've wanted to meet the Virgin Mary.

Clinton: You're a day late.

RIP Pope Francis. Can’t say he was my favourite Pope but was sincere and good man.

As an aside it’s an interesting time for a new Pope to be appointed as the church is going through a revival in the West. Attendances are rising sharply here, France and in the US. Mainly driven by the young, particularly young men. Be interesting to see if a new Pope sustains that.

We've got some half-priced cracked ice, and miles and miles of carpet tiles
TV's, deep freeze and David Bowie LP's
Pool games, gold chains, wosnames and at a push
Some Pope Francis tracksuits from a mush in Shepherds Bush

Got no time for any organised religion but accept that the world is absolutely infested with them.

However, this guy seemed to be dragging this particular organised religion out of the dark ages it appears so desperate to hang on to and into the present.

Next steps need to be recognising divorces (which is basically accepting some people can and do get it wrong) and globally installing contraceptive machines in every building that houses a Catholic institution.

You're getting your Popes mixed up, ignorant fool.
He wasn't always a pope was he, and he was 88 so around while it happened without speaking out, as they all were. As for King Charles I honestly have no idea if he is or isn't..
He had nothing to do with any of it, he probably wasn't aware. You were in Britain when Saville was 'active', doesn't make you complicit. Why are you so desperate for such a holy man to be a paedophile?
Seeing as he was in the midst of an organisation that was riddled with it and I've never been close to Saville I'd say his chances of knowing were thousands of times greater than mine.

What is a holy man anyway, chief teller of fairytales?

To be fair to the man, he’s done more than any previous Pope is attempting to fix historical problems.

I think he’s the only one to actually acknowledge the problem and put procedures in place to try and stop it.
He also lifted the ‘pontifical secrecy’ rule, meaning the church had to cooperate with authorities over previous allegations.

But let’s not pretend the problem is fixed.
