Obviously the cinematography is better in Branagh's Henry V but to put in context, Olivier's Henry V was made near the end of WWII and was intended as a morale booster for Britain. Therefore the resources wouldn't have been available in that current climate.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant is outstanding.

Not a film but obviously Band of Brothers, The Pacific and Masters of the Air are all stellar pieces of film on the 2nd world war.

Nothing wrong with Henry V!! Especially Brannagh's

Watched Warfare last night. Obviously every participant in war has their Point of View ( in a literal "experience" sense)  and each point of View will illicit different stories we can emote about but warfare just tries to put us in amongst a group of soldiers doing their job and reacting to events. We never see it from anything other than a few participants. Never from the other side and no moralising whatsoever. We are in with them in real time experiencing as much as it is possible what they all experience. We dont really even get much in the way of emotion except pain and fear. 

I recommend it highly. Its not high drama but Haigh drama could be better informed by it.

Another shout for Lone Survivor.

Not strictly an out and out war film but '13 hours,the secret soldiers of Benghazi' is outstanding.
Also,as Syd said,'The boys I'm company C',Another belter.

If we aren't sticking to 20th century then I have to put Spartacus in there.

Other more obvious modern ones I can't see below are A Bridge Too Far, Good Morning Vietnam, The Hurt Locker, Courage Under Fire and Lone Survivor.  And whislst it's technically not a war film, as it does include soldiers and battles Dog Soldiers was geat fun.
