Happy Windrush Day

Today is Windrush Day, a day to honour immigrants, specifically from the Caribbean, who arrived here after WWII and contributed enormously to rebuilding the bombed out mess of London into the great and thriving city it is today. There are plenty of celebrations happening around the capital, so, if you can, get yourself down to one of these and celebrate these wonderful people.

Good luck to the West Indian community, yes, they got a load of stick when they arrived and a lot of that was racist and discriminatory as fuck, thankfully we have moved on from those days.

I have family members who are part of or descendants of the 'Windrush generation'.
In my eyes, they are just people,no need to hang labels on them. My problem is with the filth we are importing who mainly end up in the big city's and London being the biggest of them all suggests that there is more filth there than anywhere else.
And yes,Khan is a despicable, lying, self obsessed piece of shit.

People who arrived on the Windrush (many of whom had fought in the war) did so in a genuine belief that they should help rebuild Britain as part of the British Empire
In many cases they were met with racism (No Irish No Blacks No Dogs) & hostility
Topped off by Theresa May attempting to deport many of them decades later as they had arrived as children with their parents without their own documents
ps London is still the greatest city in the world

WINDRUSH LINE: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June, no service between New Cross Gate and West Croydon / Crystal Palace. There will also be no SOUTHERN services between London Bridge and Crystal Palace / East Croydon (via Forest Hill). For New Cross Gate, use New Cross, and local buses for Penge West, Anerley and Norwood Junction. Replacement buses operate between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace via Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill and Sydenham.
