Grasshoppers vs West Ham | Pre-Season | 19.7.25 | Match Thread

So the circus rolls back into town, with our first Pre-Season friendly of the 25/26 campaign.
Ol' Cock Piss Potter finally given a "full preseason" to turn his crab football into a thing of beauty that we can all behold. The commitment to the 'Wing Back System' shaping the squad in a way that anyone to follow him will likely need to rip up and start again.
Anyway....with 29 players out in Germany, it's likely to be a substitute-laden shitfest, with shoddy camera work and uninterested commentary from the media guy on the official site.
But also a chance to see Diouf, Potts, Orford, Marshall, Cornet, Fullkrug, Aguerd, and maybe build an understanding of what is to come.
So strap in, remember it's a "fitness exercise" and we can all have a row about what it all means when they turn us over 3-1 and we're told they're "3 weeks ahead of us in their Pre-Season preparations".

Nothing have caught my eye on a positive note so far.
Sad to see Soucek floating around with absolutely no intent whatsoever
That's the spirit KD, start the season as you mean to go on, positive as ever.
You miserable fucking cսnt.

Orford didn't lose possession EVERY time, but he was making riskier forward passes which didn't always come off. Perhaps tidy was the wrong word though. In any case, I'd rather see him in the first team next season than Potts (or Soucek or JWP or Guido for that matter).

Guilherme is not a right wing-back, that much is clear! He took up some really odd defensive positions, didn't he? Asking a lot of a very attacking winger/midfielder to play that role. Would like to see him in his more natural role and I'm sure we will.
Underwhelming, generally, but not a bad game to shake off the summer rust. Bowen looked sharp. We are going to be so heavily reliant on that fella again this season, the way things are going.
Liked the look of Diouf - wants to get forward at every opportunity. Which, when you've got three CBs etc, will only be a good thing.
Orford needs games to get up speed. They all do, so wouldn't read too much into the first pre-season. We just need some high-class signings - especially in midfield - and to stop fucking around with squad ballast.

Unsurprisingly we looked worse once our best players went off at half time.
Diouf looks good.

You sure that weren’t Potts? Orford seemed to lose possession everytime he had it, pretty sure it was also him that didn’t react to closing down the shot they scored from

Orford looked pretty tidy to me. Very much a pass and move player, which is good. Most of our central midfielders tend to be too static.

We got a bit lucky with the penalty. When they say things even out, this will be counted as the decision that went our way, to make up for something that costs us valuable points.

Think Marshall’s done well for himself today, massively underwhelming from Potts and Orford though

Are there two no 50 on the pitch? Marshal and some tall bloke in defence?
Yeah. Casey had the 50 shirt as well for some reason.

As soon as I started watching we turned to shit.
He is given far to much room and time. Potts not strong or/and fast enough. And with Soucek we are doomed to be shit

Guilherme is pretty awful but he's playing right wing back which is clearly a terrible role for him.
Good to see that Diouf is always getting high up the pitch and putting in crosses. Could be a very important player for us.
