Unbelievable that any release doesn’t have several checks to ensure that someone being released to a detention centre before deportation has the right box ticked instead of ‘let him go’. Even more so with an obviously high profile prisoner
There is possibly a contest between the prison service & police to see who is the dimmest 

It's equally possible that the person managing this transfer was an entitled, lefty remainer who believes that we should absolutely have open borders & reparations all round and so "did his bit" for the cause.
