Another game at the soulless bowl. All eyes will be on the team selection in the first instance, with the hope that we revert to the Everton form, and purge the experimentation of the last two games.

Nuno seems to have confirmed that for him Paqueta is a fixture in the side at 10, so suggestions he might make way look impossible. Fullkrug remains sidelined. Earthy is back in contention, and Mavro remains on the sidelines. Ezra Myers and Fin Herrinck have been called up to train with the first team.

Predicted LineUp:

Areola

Wan Bissaka
Todibo
Kilman
KWP

Potts
Fernandes

Bowen (c)
Paqueta
Summerville

Wilson

Subs:
Hermansen, Igor, Diouf, Magassa, Irving, Soucek, Marshall, Earthy, Guilherme

Predicted Result:
More of the same seems likely, with them on form and another side with a powerful aerial presence.

West Ham 1 - 3 Newcastle

You sometimes get a bit lucky and make the most of it but today felt soooo much better. Lets hope they can keep it up.

Let's not get to carried away though, Newcastle were Poor today, looked like they had been on the piss.

Burnley next week is going to be a very tough match

We play like we did today, we walk all over them. Same again!

Nor did we get any sympathy last week, when we had to play Monday and Friday.

VAR got 2 out of 3 Bang on right today. The pen decision is the one that could be argued each way. He got a toe to the ball or went through Bowen to get to it. Maybe if it was Liverpool with the title on the line then the pen decision stands. I think there is still some subjectivity even with VAR which you cannot ever eliminate.

I went with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

We actually looked like a cohesive unit for once and Wilson for the sixty minutes he played done what a centre forward should do

Workrate was superb and barring the goal we looked solid defensively kept the ball well and looked dangerous down the flanks

Soucek is a hard man to drop as his commitment to the cause is superb and you know he would run through brick walls for the club .

Bowen was probably my man of the match, worked his socks off and was very unlucky not to score

We got lucky with the own goal but maybe it's true that the harder you work the luckier you get.

Onwards and upwards

Isn't it amazing what can happen when the manager picks the strongest starting eleven, players in their correct positions and starts with a proper striker.

Soucek up top was a mini master stroke too.

Fair play to Nuno for the team selection and getting a performance from the players today. It was a great performance and a great atmosphere over there for once.

I'm still livid with him for those shit selections against Brentford and Leeds though. Two winnable games that he totally blew with his nonsense team selections and tactics.

Probably being overly sensitive, but feels an increased bias against Paqueta. Clear foul not given with that smug prick Sutton saying it was simulation, then got booked for realising the ball was going out so just laced it while still in play (or at least that’s how I saw it). He can kick it where the fuck he likes in open play, it’s not kicking the ball away. Either that or he was booked for the Newcastle player pushing him in the chest.

Soucek, love or hate he is 100% dedicated, a super sub. We have to keep him until retirement.

What a welcome win, I'm so relieved. Lots of positives today, Wilson, AWB, Potts, Fernandes. Killibo looked much better.

Happy to keep him as a super sub.
That's mainly his role now that we finally have other Midfielders who proved they are better than him to replace in the side. The time is right and he can still be such a threat and help in both boxes when required. He's a real Team player which he'll accept as well because of his love for the Club. Opposition Teams are not going to enjoy seeing him come on as a Sub fully expecting a battle.

It’s dark arts. Takes the immediate heat out of the game, gives the defenders a blow. Of course it was feigning, so what? Nice to be doing it instead of being on the wrong end for a change.

Slowed the game down on purpose, gave our defenders a breather, frustrated Newcastle, all good game management by Areola

Agree on this, he is good coming on as a super sub and can be effective at either end as we saw today and many times in the past. He CANNOT be starting games though.

Freddie's ability to sniff out where the danger is going to be is worth a yard of pace. Along with Fernandes we actually started winning duels and getting a foot in first. A world away from the ponderous Rodriguez and weak JWP.

As mentioned Paqueta is all the better for it .

Todibo and Kilman had their best match together for us by miles.

Roll on Burnley.

Also got to give a nod to the CB’s and the switch of sides. Was dreading them going up against that lanky kraut Dieter Crouch,  but they did well to keep him quiet.

Out tempo under Nuno today was so much better.

I second this. The pace of play from having Potts and Fernandes was key today.
Yep, Fernandes deserves a mention, as you say. He put a shift in today.

God that was nervy, but well done to the boys and manager, especially after going behind, gives us a fighting chance of getting out of the shit.  Worried about the subs as thought a counter needed Summervilles pace but Super Tom Striker!  Potts MOM, Bowen back to his best and Paqueta good when he concentrates on the football rather than the play acting.  Thought back four did well second half and that's the best I've seen Todibo play.  Onwards and upwards.

It’s blindingly obvious, but Paqueta is always better when he plays with players he trusts to pass to. We saw it as soon as Fernandes came in at Forest, when we had Rice, and now with Potts. You see when Soucek is playing that he’ll hold on to it for too long and try to do ot himself, or look for someone different, as he just doesn’t trust him.

Nuno called it just about right today limiting his wacky decisions to a minimum and it had the desired effect. 3 valuable points we desperately needed and very well deserved as well.

I've been critical of the players application in recent times bar Bowen who always delivers but today they all put in a monster shift and did it whilst going a goal down which pleased we greatly.

Potts was the Star man. He's the player I hoped he'd be whenever I saw glimpses of him play, just something so reassuring and a huge calming presence when so often our players have rushed it and been more like headless chicken. If you squinted a bit during the game you could have been mistaken for thinking that was a young Declan Rice making his 1st start in Midfield for us. The kid just looks the absolute part as well and is going to he a shining beacon of West Ham light that we can finally get behind. He'll embrace it too, you can see how much he's enjoying himself out there as a proud West Ham boy.

Thought Paqueta took responsibility today in being our talisman to get going in the final third where you want him to do most of his damage before Wilson was subbed and he played a little deeper for the Team's sake.

Nice to see Tomas Scapegoat get his customary goal against Newcastle and chucking himself in harms way yet again in our box we we needed him too most. He manage to re-attach his bollocks again OK??

Yes, Newcastle were miles off their game today which helped but we played out part as well in nullifying their threat keeping them quiet for long spells in the game.

All in all though I'm proud of everyone's performance and effort today, it's all we fucking ask. Fight, passion and a sprinkle of quality that can make all the difference.
