A much better performance today although Sunderland were very poor for the most part
Second half we took our foot of the gas somewhat and it was probably a good job we were three up when they scored as we do tend to fold and go too defensive when teams look to come at us for an equaliser.
Some good performances out there today and everyone seemed to put a shift in so plenty of positives
We have to be looking a six points from the next three to keep the momentum going and to give us a real good chance or failing that four to at least keep us hanging on in there and hoping others falter.

Burnley beating spurs - could drag them in (long shot i know) - actually maybe better for us if spurs beat burnley
Will Frank walk the plank?

After a concerning first 5 today I thought that was as good as we have played for a while but even at 3-0 I wasn't confident as proved second half when a sloppy, but well taken goal, made it a tad nervy. All in all though we did defend a tad better although better opposition will always be a concern. That said, back to back wins and three points is the main thing.
Trying to work out if Summervilles rich vein of form is confidence or due to the two new lads up top running their legs off, creating space and giving defenders something to think about. Maybe a combination of the two. Jimmy is becoming a real handfull and something always looks like it is going to happen with him running with it. Taty I do quite like. He does work hard and chases down every ball but obviously a few goals would be a bonus. Pablo works hard, and chases every ball and,,,, well I'm just not sure right now, certainly doesn't look a world beater but maybe he may make a good foil for others in the way Iain Dowie was for Cottee and co!! Wouldn't actually mind just seeing Taty behind Wilson to see how that would go.
Fernandes is becoming a real player for us. Could do with two of him as he seems to play a half back role really well with a great range of passing but at the same time wow what a goal threat he could be. With him in that form it's a shame we won't see him play like that alongside an interested and firing Paqueta.
Boys at the back did ok, really impressed with Scarles again, but I think ideally an upgrade centre back is still needed. I was at times impressed with the Sunderland lad Ballard, is it? A better version of him next to Todibo might be the key.

Good win, that. We were up for it from the start, which makes a huge difference.
Summerviille is finally playing with confidence. Hoping Fernandes continues to excel.
Got to keep building momentum. No fannying around at the start of the next game - straight into it.

Great result but even at 3-0 HT Nuno has the involuntary reflex of fucking shitting himself, goes from playing on the front foot with confidence to retreating into as defensive a shape as possible. Does my fucking loaf in.

Slow start but for half an hour we were excellent harrying the Northern monkeys into error & taking out chances
Sat back too much in the second half but not really in great danger
Fernandes was excellent & thought our forwards worked overtime to keep them under pressure
Scarles was very good & we generally worked hard all over
Sunderland may have hit the wall but they are basically a long ball long throw team
Can anyone explain this new goal kick tactic?
Todibo taps it to Areola who then boots it downfield
From the same spot where he could have taken the goal kick from
Sunderland tapped it to the keeper who then carried it forward to the edge of the area gaining 10 yds

The 2 new Forwards need to find the back of the net. The work rate is good but there will need to be more in front of goal to justify their cost.
I dont care where the goals come from. If there workrate and movement creates space and chances for others then it's just as good. In a way I just want them to score so they can settle into the league. Pablo snatched at his chance today and Taty was a handful for the defense and watching how he ran off his marker today makes me think it wont be long before we find him in those spaces and profit.
I agree. A goal from anywhere is good right now. Even if the two up front aren’t doing it they are just by their work creating opportunities for other players.

I realize I probably imagined it, but was that the non-person James Ward-Prowse on the bench?

360; I agree Pablo gets about and puts a shift in. BUT as said, he’s creating spaces and opps for others, but he could do with a goal.

You watch Pablo, and you want him to do well , he runs around a bit. But is he all that?
where his valuation has increased 100fold in 12 months?
Desperately wanted his chance to go in….but never looked like it.
Last week that guy from the Bobby more stand podcast changed his opinion on Pablo after watching the analytics podcast. Apparently he puts in more work than anyone up front or something. I wasn’t at the game so can’t tell any of his off the ball work really. But I think it was night and day to when both Tatty and Pablo are on the pitch in terms of how much impact we have in their half.

Great result from another excellent first half performance. Scratchy second half and back to the terrible defending we've repeatedly suffered from this season for their goal, but apart from that, the cushion we had from the first half was enough to see us through.
Fernandes was brilliant. He just gets better and better and should be the heartbeat of the side for the rest of the season, so I really think we should take whatever Flamengo are offering for Paqueta and move on - we're better without him and as someone else has already observed, Fernandes' new lease of life may be partly due to not being in Paqueta's shadow.
A concern for me is Pablo. He works fairly hard but seems to have the touch and finesse of a donkey, repeatedly losing the ball, failing to pick passes and unable to finish. He also seems very lame in the air, which is poor for such a big bloke. Ok, so maybe he's still finding his feet in the PL, but that excuse won't wash much longer. If he doesn't improve very soon I would be inclined to recall young Kodua from Luton.

Fernandes is definitely captain material, and I'm sure Bowen would be fine relinquishing the role.

There’s something to be said about Paqueta not being involved. Good player, yeah, but a liability with a combustible personality and you never really knew whether the good version would play or the tinpot mug who had been stinking up the place all season.
Today was a fantastic result built upon a strong performance, and I’m happy. Pressure is starting to mount on Forest and I don’t think they have the mettle to survive on their own; it’s whether we do or not that worries me most.
Chelsea up next - I think most of us would say a loss is likely, but it’s just as dependant on what Jekyll or Hyde version of theirs turns up.
I think that most agree that, with Paqueta, there is certainly a great player "in there". Maybe seeing Fernandes play today will light the spark of challenge, maybe it will finally piss him off and he leaves.
As for your comments on the Chelsea game, that's virtually word for word what I'd have said in my predictions thread. They're away at Napoli before they play us.
