J. Riddle: "Without getting too ahead of ourselves but..... We're gonna win the league, We're gonna win the league, And now you're gonna believe us, And now you're gonna believe us, And now you're gonna believe us, We're gonna win the league..." I'm saving that for after the inevitable victory against Man City. It is inevitable, isn't it?

Good win at a potential banana skin (first home game blah blah) Comfortably the better team although there were moments of trouble- mainly caused by them having some absolute bruisers. Areola still worries me. Not convincing at all with crosses/corners and command of the box. I’ve had this criticism of him from the first EL game I saw him in for us. Good otherwise but there’s a rickett waiting in there. Can’t complain too much as we were by far the better team. Just need to be wary that any team no matter how poor can steal points from you if you’re not careful or switch off, or have an individual error even if you’re well on top. Good lesson after being the underdogs in two games and having those EL games on the horizon. Alvarez looks like he’s going to be very good. Paqueta was excellent. I also like the combo of him Emerson and Benrahma. It’s clearly somethjng Paqueta likes as well. I actually thought JWP was a little quiet but still what a tidy bit of business and another assist. Dare is say Declan ‘who?’ just yet?

Kaiser Zoo He was always going to play Soucek against Man City. He will also play Alvarez and drop Benny...

Looking at the early posts are hilarious usual doomcasts about how we usually lose to bottom sides. I was worried about this one but loved how we dealt with it. We have a good side here

Where did you see this interview with Moyes Zoso? I have listened to 4 interviews with him and in every one he is full of praise for Alvarez and JWP, not one mention of any slight disappointment. If you could let me know I can then listen to it ????

Without checking the BBC website I’ll predict that 2 of the top stories are about Spanish people being upset about a kiss and an alleged rapist joining a Spanish side. Oh the irony.

Manuel 9:20 Sat Sep 2 Isn't it part of a new pattern and trend where we see 8'ers capable of picking out brillant passes (with quite a few mistakes) but also put in a good fight? They are different to Gerrard and Lampard. Bellingham, Tonali, Kimmich, Barella, Paquetá etc. Oh, Álvarez is a beast. Fantastic signing.

I thought Alvarez did well, and the midfield three were an improvement on the lumbering Soucek. Moyes didn’t though and took it upon himself to point it out 'You have to deal with the balls up and the knock-downs and I think we missed Tomáš Souček for his stature.’ So, straight back in next game then and leave out one of the new boys, so predictable and lame.

How people on here think Benrhama should be in our side is beyond me.

Benrahma is hugely frustrating. Fantastic at Brighton last week but no end product yesterday. Having said that, the combination of him, Paqueta and Emerson is often our best route to creating something.

Carragher: "Benrahma looks lively" Reality: Benrahma spends 75 minutes running down blind alleys and ballooning shots over the bar

If Moyes is open to abandoning being the stereotypical Moyes he inflicted on us most of last season and the one before, I'm delighted to agree he is a "hell of a manager".

I thought we deserved the win but I wouldn’t say it was a good performance. Looked nervous at the back - especially Aguerd. Lots of the ball but were ineffective with it. Second week in a row we panicked towards the end defending a lead and were fortunate with the VAR call. Above all yesterday showed why we need another striker for those types of games.

Lingard still to sign Probably best to get him onboard as he can cover pretty much all attacking areas.
