Despite our recent experience and ECL trophy win, we are outsiders at 33/1. Which could be decent if we actually make a few quality signings. Liverpool 9/4 Roma 9/1 Villarreal 10/1 Betis 14/1 Atalanta 14/1 Freiburg 18/1 Leverkusen 18/1 Brighton 20/1 Sporting 25/1 Rennes 25/1 Group A: West Ham, Olympiacos, Freiburg, TSC Backa Topola Group B: Ajax, Marseille, Brighton, AEK Athens Group C: Rangers, Real Betis, Sparta Prague, Aris Limassol Group D: Atalanta, Sporting, Sturm Graz, Rakow Czestochowa Group E: Liverpool, LASK, Union SG, Toulouse Group F: Villarreal, Rennes, Maccabi Haifa, Panathinaikos Group G: Roma, Slavia Prague, Sheriff Tiraspol, Servette Group H: Leverkusen, Qarabag, Molde, Hacken 21/09 Topola (H) 05/10 Freiburg (A) (Fans Banned) 26/10 Olympiacos (A) 09/11 Olympiacos (H) 30/11 Topola (A) 14/12 Freiburg (H)

Heads up on the 3 game home package for STH's. Deadline for buying this with the discount is Monday 4th September. NB it appears there may be an online glitch. I got a text from the club saying yesterday was the deadline for using club cash to buy it, so I went on the eticketing site to check. It wasn't showing as an option to purchase in my online account so I had to ring the club. Initially he said they're not on sale until Monday onwards but eventually I was able to buy them. Upshot is that the package offer is only open until Monday, and you may have to ring the club to buy one.

Thanks Swiss - good tip about the flight situation. It’s been a while since I was out in south-west Germany but it’s a great area and well-connected. (Not the cheapest route but the trains down from Frankfurt airport are also pretty direct as I did that a few times, if Basel gets booked up.)

I live in Basel, so pretty convenient for me for once! Freiburg is really nice and city has a great atmosphere on match days, lots of nice drinking spots and of course good beer

Liverpool will qualify anyway. Doesn't matter who they drew. It's irrelevant. They could say the same about our group. Freiburg finished 5th and won't have the spending power of Olympiacos let alone us. FK Topola will be tricky as all Serb teams are. Both Topola and Olympiacos are top currently. Freiburg 100%. Thus all teams have all started very well. However we should qualify and top. Frieburg probably hardest team, bit like Brighton model. It all depends on how we approach the home fixtures as we will have to play with a lot more possession and take the other teams on.We have the players do we have the right manager and tactics. Win the 3 home games and collect 3/4 points away we'll qualify comfortably. Brighton are like Newcastle, they'll be loving it and can take all 3 teams on. Nothing to lose for them.

Yeah fuck me couldn't have been more 'convenient' for Liverpool's chances of progression. That said I'd expect them to easily top any group they were drawn in anyway. I feel our draw is decent? Some tough away fixtures in terms of hostility/crowd though. But would expect us to progress fairly comfortably? Can't say i know much about Freiborg of the other side

OccupyGreenStreet 4:09 Fri Sep 1 I don't think there are any direct flights from London to Strasbourg and Stuggart flights are expensive. I'd book Easyjet to Basel the minute the fixtures are announced.

Freiburg is very affluent and pretty, edge of Black Forest, major university and tech city. Spent quite a lot of time there back in the day. It’s very easy and quick by train to Basel/Basle just inside Switzerland for the airport, and also flying into Stuttgart and then by train is pretty direct. Strasbourg in France would be another flight option but not done that route personally.

Lets hope the Serbs are the first away game. I wanted one of the Prague teams or USG (my old home).

One of my best family fiends lives in Freiburg. Lovely town and been there lots of times. Its placed a the rim of the Black Forrest and I went on manya hike there. Take the cable car to St Valentine mountain. Great restaurant there that cooks these Pancakes to die for. Bacon, Mushrooms , Onions and Frischkäse.
