true happyg he could have opted for Kehrer or Johnson i guess althoygh both are right sided. Just shows squad depth / holes still. ( he wont play Scarles or youngsters) it's like if Alvrarez gets injured whos his replacement? Moyes was so keen to bomb Warbartons pick Downes out that he didny notice he had no other CDM now Rice has also gone jack Harrison vs Aaron Cresswell… what could possibly go wrong ?

Soucek being dropped is progress. Kudus has not played wide left until arriving at West Ham but it’s better than putting Paqueta out there. Much will depend on how he sets Paqueta and JWP up. Imo Paqueta has to help more with the defensive side to get JWP more advanced than in recent games Of course a lot will depend on our 33/34 year old converted winger upfront. Can he control and distribute better this week ?

"not feeling over confident about this one. battle of the dinosaur managers or can we show we have better quality players. If DCL lasts the full game, he probably carries a greater goal scoring threat."

While no game is a 'must win' at this stage of the season this is a very big game for us... win and we continue to look up the table and regain some momentum. Lose and all will quickly become doom and gloom! I have no idea what the result will be...

"*gobshite alert* if we were playing in a head tennis league he's perfect, but he's so useless with his feet he needs to be in the opposition's half (or preferably on the bench). him and ward prowse need to be advanced of alavrez, not suffocating him. that was the problem at villa, too fucking deep with no pressure on the ball until it was too late"

"Soucek at his best is worth a place in defensive midfield with Alvarez or JWP but not all of them making it a defensive midfield three against the likes of Everton. One has to go as we need Paqueta, Bowen, Kudus and Antonio at his best, switching positions to keep Everton defenders occupied."

"Everton are the opposite of us according to Opta stats and one of the sides most underachieving based on possession, chances and chances converted. They are better than they were last season and have the likes of Jack Harrison improving them down the flanks and I have watched 3 of their games on TV and under Dyche they are now organized, press well and have been unlucky in a few games. They have not played badly like they were under Lampard. Just as the “score board fans” misread our victories over Brighton and Chelsea as some turning point ( ignoring world class saves by Areola, penalty miss by Chelsea etc). Same fans start talking about Soucek being reborn because he got a couple of goals. He’s not technically good enough or quick enough to be a good Premiership first team player imo. Everton are playing better football than us from what I saw and pass it better as a team, and don’t carry players like Soucek and Antonio as we have. They have struggled with finishing but Calvert Lewin is getting fit again and will cause problems to Aguerd and Zouma. We need to be on it100% but I think we all fear seeing Moyes selecting Soucek and Antonio once more and playing Paqueta , JWP, Kudus out of position to a accommodate them. Moyes will also play Kehrer in a left back spot which he looked uncomfortable in recently and he faces Harrison. Moyes is on the way out I think but it’s going to be a slow painful process to get Sullivan to act. We win today and it will further delay the happy clapper “scoreboard” fans seeing the limitations and an early exit but surely Steidten is pushing to replace Moyes in the summer? He’s done a decent interim job but that’s it he’s not the future and the solution to anything I foresee a narrow loss or draw at best but as always will be pleased if we get the 3 points even if it means this season being another frustrating watch at times Soucek and to a lesser extent Antonio is the barometer for me. While they start league games it shows nothing will change for the better"

"It seems every time we lose Moyes talks about what we have done previously, but forgets to mention we have goon backwards with his defeated tactics and stubborn attitude, loss today and Sullivan must show some backbone and get rid of the dinosaur before it’s to late. 2-1 Everton"

"Looking forward to this as it feels like a real big game, a win and we're back on track, lose and the decent start has been undone and the misery will set in. I said 1-1 before, but who really knows, we should win all being even, but this Everton side aren't that bad."

Everton were always our bogey team when D Moyes was managing them. We have actually won the last two home league games against them but they were managed by F Lampard (probably the worst manager in PL history) so not sure we can rely on those wins.
