"I think if Paqueta was available to play everyone on here would have him starting. But you cannot ignore his mistakes to repeatedly give the ball away in dangerous positions and from which we suffered goals being scored. Most of these mistakes are him taking a risk with the ball when he could easily be safer. It is right to say he has to improve that to be a great player. I am sure a manager like Guardiola, will have noticed this and it will be a big negative in considering to buy him."

For my sins I'd still like to go and suffer with fellow fans. had no luck getting tickets through official channels so I'm looking for somewhere local to the ground to at least swear at a TV with fellow fans and one of my boys. Anyone got any recommendations?

"Surf, I’m in agreement with you on Paqueta. Although clearly a talent, he’s something of a flawed talent. Yes, he can be very creative and has an eye for a killer ball, particularly if Bowen is the target. But his habit of needing far too many touches before releasing the ball oftentime which all too often results in him being disposessed shows he is not quite the finished product that some of his fans believe him to be. And btw I can’t remember when he last had an outstanding game."

This reminds me of when we played Frankfurt. Negative Moyesball doesn't work. They couldn't be in a more comfortable position just sit in and pick us off on the break like Fulham. I need an excuse to avoid this car crash.

H&P - I don’t think I’m the only person who has a problem with Paqueta and his school boy mistakes. My point is although he’s an amazing talent he has flaws and he should know them and fix them to become a great player at the highest level which he can be. You don’t need to be rude in having a different view or expressing it.

Surfinglizard 6:03 Tue Apr 16 He’s a playmaker and most of the time he is reduced to trying a pass that fails because there is no player moving into space ahead to attack. This is basic stuff. Maybe just admit you haven’t got a clue?

Does anyone think Paqueta would walk into their first 11 ?

If Paqueta can just adjust his style to stop overplaying 4 of every 5 touches it would be a huge step forward. It’s utter bollocks to say ‘you have to accept that from him’ total bollocks. He’s a professional footballer he watches his own reels like everyone else does. He has to see the mistakes he’s making and the goals we are conceding. It’s a needless aspect of his game; trying to showboat the majority of his possession.

"Obviously can be negotiated but if they trigger the buyout (giving us no option to refuse) they have to cough up the whole £85m on that day. If you look at some of the players running around ... Caicedo, Enzo, Grealish .... then £85m is entirely reasonable. If not a bargain for a first choice Brazil midfielder"

"As far as I'm aware, we can demand the £85m up front, and not as instalments which is how most transfers work. If they want him, they'll get him. And then all the anti football mob will be much happier seeing 3 cloggers in midfield doing nothing, which they so obviously crave."

If Man City want to insult Paqueta by not paying his buy out then so be it. Not for sale then Its £85m or go fuck yourselves Maybe the owners can make up another 'sponsor' & put the cash in .... charge number 116 when we EVER get round to them

"Pretty much sums it up Tex. A season ( or so ) too far. The self aggrandisment you mention is at the heart of why he makes himself unlikeable to many fans. Its just dishonesty really but to be honest he would have to say “I have my methods, I don’t deviate and they are no longer effective”. No one does that if they are earning millions each year. Shame his insecurities prevented him from listening to anyone."

Blame Moyes for all our problems… Prehistoric Management and ridiculous tactics coupled with arrogant self aggrandizement… Time to move on…

I see from the papers thread that Man City want Paqueta but don't want to pay his release clause. Can see that all ending badly... Paqueta will throw his toys out of the pram if we play hardball. We can't afford to give him away though... need the funds to bring in a new squad.
