In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.
Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.
He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.
Welcome Graham.

Tactically that was very pleasing yesterday. It looked like the players understood how to follow a plan. Not bad at all.
We desperately need a mobile all action midfielder and a proper striker but it bodes well for a better end to the season.

Yep, definitely some good early signs from Potter, including a team spirit that was undoubtedly missing under the prickly and miserable Lopetegui.
Lots still to fix - this squad is a mess - but very encouraging that Potter is getting tunes out of a group put together by other managers.
Got to cut out the slow starts where we seem shot shy. That second half tempo and intensity was so much better.

Another thing to add is that he’s said all of the team will be expected to play and will get game time under him. A massive difference from what we’ve had in the last few years - big motivator for the team.

Not sure if this has been posted but there are some great bits on philosophy and team building and the situation at WHU at the moment with the squad, players roles in the team, and what he's trying to do. Seems such a higher football IQ and more detailed way of thinking about the game than the last two managers.
Interviewed prior to the Villa game, but it's an excellent listen. Music to my ears.

Not sure if it’s been said before but just nice to finally have a manager that’s pretty much been welcomed by “most” of the fans.
He also speaks well when interviewed pre/post match which is refreshing, No bullshit, ranting or blaming whatever, just an honest assessment or view, was the same at Brighton and Chelsea! Massive change that was the car crash from Lopi!!! Was like interviewing Manuel from Fawlty Towers.
Overall I’m very optimistic this bloke, let’s hope it pans out that way

Ha! That’s the one.
Whatever you think of women’s football, these athletes have made playing for West Ham their career and have sacrificed a normal childhood to make it their life’s work. You get a transfer to a world famous name in the sport and then some thick kid rocks up in his dressing gown with zero experience and you’re told that he’s your new boss.
Any athlete taking their professional sport seriously would have to have felt at the very least disheartened and suddenly your life’s work is cheapened, your achievements made trivial.
And for those who do want women’s football progressed at West Ham, how would we expect to attract international stars of that version of the game when their mates tell them what it’s like at West Ham compared to other clubs when Peter Pan with an iPad is skipping around the place grinning and calling the shots in that girly voice struggling to get his words out like he’s half way through giving his first blowjob?
For those who won’t ever take women’s football seriously, they can point to that as a good example to support their claims that it’s a joke version of the game.
This is why I believe (hope) Jr isn't going to want to control the club after dad croaks it. I saw a couple of eps and the kid is in no way equipped to do it. Seems a more decent human but soft between the ears. He'll get rings run round him by everyone if he tries to run the club. Best he can do is get some savvy benevolent (ie not dad's mates) people to run the club while he just sits in the chair and watches. Brady might even not be that bad if she's shed of Sullivan's shadow- I could be way wrong with that though and she's probably most likely. You'd think that was the time Kretinsky and the Golds would make some sort of power play.
You know what, now you’ve mentioned it, I’d be prepared to give Brady a chance in the big seat with Sullivan in the ground. The major plus would be that she isn’t an owner so the board could sack her as CEO if she underperforms.
Of course, this was also the case with Terry Brown so there’s no guarantee that the owners wouldn’t just leave her in power no matter what.

Yep - me too.
Everton grinding out a win, with a penalty. Those performances will become the norm for them, and they’ll win some games with those tactics - but fuck me it’s depressingly dull to watch.
I much prefer the approach Potter is taking, and with a squad with lots of injuries. Even though we drew I’d rather watch that than grinding out a turgid 3 points.

I think it was Potter’s first full week working with squad as we had a mid week game and only a few days between Villa in the cup, then Fulham, then Palace. The extra prep time showed I thought today against Villa. Much clearer understanding by the players of what Potter wants and “joined up” actions in pressing together, one and 2 touch passing, lots if energy all over the pitch etc. Best 90 mins playing as a team I’ve witnessed in a long long while.
In GP I trust.

Hopefully someone does come along with a bunch of money & buy Sullivan out
If he does continue til the grave & gives it to the soft cock son in the velvet slippers then I suspect the little prick could be convinced to sell up with a bit of abuse
He isn’t the hard nose that his Dad his & would likely burst into tears at the first coin pinged of his head
And no consoling from his boyfriend Mad Ferret would convince him to carry on

Yeah, I might do as well. It'll go one of two ways- she's either actually going to be OK at it unshackled by Sullivan's influence which would be good, or she's just going to carry on in the same vain. I suppose it depends how deep his cronies tentacles penetrate into the club. I cannot help but feel she'd be somewhat more forward thinking, surely. Doubt she'll want to give up her media gigs to do all the hard work required though.

He did an awful job with them, he was totally unqualified. The only thing he ever did of note was convince his father to stump up over a million quid to get a crap team included in the new look Women’s Super League as you could buy into it even if you were garbage, and you couldn’t be in it if you didn’t have that kind of money even if you were the greatest women’s team in the world.
Is this the one where he came across like David Brent?

Simon Jordan has perfectly described Sullivan. We are stuck with him until he dies unfortunately. His sons will probably be just as insecure, cowardly, and to use Jordan’s well chosen word, “insidious”.
It’ll be worse, mate. For all his many faults, Sullivan is a cutthroat businessman who made a fortune in a murky underworld of sleaze and gangsters, people were getting murdered around him and he came out a millionaire.
Jack Sullivan has zero work experience besides playing games with fringe elements of WHUFC and has led a privileged life this far, protected from the real world.
Hes an idiot Peter Pan weirdo who will become a puppet to his advisors and could well run us into the ground whilst making us the butt of our rivals’ jokes.
If you think it’s bad now, strap yourself in because mark my words, it’s going to be a LOT worse when the parasite dies.
To be fair (hoping here) the kid might realise he's perhaps not a business minded bloke and leave it to experts- the only trouble is they will have to be benevolent experts i.e. not his dad's mates. He might not even want the responsibility and just want to sit in the box in a non executive role. Kretinsky and the Golds would run absolute rings around him anyway, most likely. The executive power might even be put in Brady's hands.
If he wants to 'run' the club, we just have to hope he doesn't put his trust/faith in the hands of self interested snakes and leeches like his old man's mates. To be fair what I've seen he does seem to be a bit more sensitive and soft than his old man so might not want all the pressure headaches and stick that his dad can just shake off with no sort of guilt or sense ownership. Not everyone is cut out to be so beligerent and thick skinned
They may even just want to cash out, even if the intention was to pass the club down to them.
Probably all wishful thinking.
With any luck when insidious dies you hope that the Sullivan name will be history at West Ham.
