May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.
Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Not WHU related but I see Jobe Bellingham is off to Dortmund for 31 mill. Seems like a hell of a lot despite his youth? Going on the strength of his brother's name? Still, they don't get it wrong that often, do they.
At least they bought him based on loads of appearances starting games at that age and achieved promotion to the Premier League, compared to someone Steidten bought from Brazil for a similar amount based off much fewer games mostly off the bench.

Relegation fight next season if we do not get pace, athleticism, physical strength in midfield. A young, quick striker, a left back and a goalkeeper in addition and we could see a proper turnaround.
Expect none of the above because Sullivan is back in full control. Macaulay and Potter can identify who they like but Sullivan will ensure he gets players he wants. He’s supposedly said, in reference to Steidten, Husillos and previous managers, that he is better at identifying players to back up his opinion that DOFs are a waste of time. He has unfortunately been emboldened by bringing in AWB, via Salthouse, last summer. He will have conveniently ignored the other 50 duds he brought in over the last 15 years.
My advice is always to ignore the rumours and media BS anyway. Nothing of note will happen until August after sales hopefully made. Kudus, Emerson, Aguerd, Rodruiguez, Irvine and if needs be others like Fullkrug will need to have been sold before we do much buying. It will be like going into the supermarket at the end of the weekend, shelves half empty etc. Dont worry though, Sullivan will save the day with calls and deals thru his agent contacts.
15 years of this owner. Why would anyone expect anything logical, sensible or strategic to happen?
Best to hope for next season is what it has always largely been under Sullivan.. avoid a relegation scrap but currently as things stand that is looking unlikely
Yep, and all the other useless cunts on the board just sit there doing fuck all nothing while Rome burns...
You would think they would be gobsmacked and motivated to act quickly while they see a man who by his own admission is a liar, a humbug, a hypocrite, a vagabond, a loathsome spotted reptile and a self-confessed chicken strangler. They may choose, if you wish, to believe the transparent tissue of odious lies which stream on and on from his disgusting, greedy, slavering lips and his overrated sidekick with the performative feminist schtick. That is entirely on their heads alone.

Very difficult for us to sign anyone early of note given where we finished in the league.
If you're a young player but with talent, you're not singing for West Ham until August....because there's all the teams in Europe, and the teams in contention in the league to get into Europe that you'd sign for first.
Our market this year is on the way down freebies, lower league punts, and 2nd rate leagues not quite big things in the hope of finding a late bloomer or rough diamond.
Anyone else we have to wait until the bigger lions have had their full before we get to sniff around the scraps and the bones of what's left.
This year, we are way down the food chain of player selection...so what player comes to us early in the window? No one who actually rates themselves that's for sure.

Fair enough, but why the hell doesn't we build a new squa with young players instuof buying mediocre old cunts.
Antonio Nusa, Leipzig as an example. We should be doing everything to sign him and players like him. Young, fast, technically gifted and affordable

We’re not an attractive proposition next season really for any potential signings, unless we throw a shed load of money at them. Quite ironic that we finished above Spurs who will be shopping in Waitrose next season, while we be looking in the special offer baskets in Lidl.

Brighton do recruit older players too. Wellbeck, Lallana and Milner weren’t exactly spring chickens. I think it depends on who else we bring in. We have one of the oldest and slowest squads in the Premier League, which is why other teams keep cutting through our midfield like a hot knife through butter.
Those three while yes the same age profile had all played at the top and England Internationals.
And they were all able to adapt their game to fit into the system they play in. Michail’s game was/is based on pure power and pace, he just doesn’t have the technical ability or football intelligence to do anything other than that - he’s too old for top level football now, even without the injury.

Josh Brownhill is a reasonable lower premier league midfield player but I am a bit confused by continually being linked with him.
If McCauley and Potter are leading the recruitment then why are we attempting to sign someone we have been linked with regularly during and since Moyes reign? Are they devoid of ideas or has "someone" suggested the deal?
If we are looking to lower the average age why is our potential first signing someone who is 29?
If we had bussed out Rodriguez or Ward Prowse to replace him with Brownhill, fair enough, personally I would have preferred Brownhill to Ward Prowse at the time. As it is it seems that Brownhill will replace Kudus (timing wise), 4 years his junior, or worse, obstruct Potts's progress. The ability to shift Rodriguez and Ward Prowse is questionable but to be prayed for.
What of the player himself? what is his motivation? arguably he has had the best season of his life with a manager and a club known to him so why move to a club that must appear from the outside to be challenged with the best players leaving, all apart from Bowen available for transfer and owners broadcasting "we are skint"?
One of the attractions to Kudus signing we were told was that Steidten told him Paqueta would be staying. How many world class players will be asking the same of Brownhill next season?
I am quite comfortable with the Pearl diving, unknown players, exciting youth prospects approach sprinkled with some senior players but I can't get excited about average players from yoyo clubs, dross from relegated clubs or Robert Fucking Sanchez, more crucial errors than any other keeper last season.
If only we had a vision, strategy and tactics to deliver that strategy instead of Brady and Sullivan.
Sullivan is pushing the signing onto Potter, who doesn't want him. Allegedly. Maybe he just has to play this game in order to then get a player he DOES want. Who fucking knows. No other fucking owner does this to his manager. No other fucking owner recruits a technical director or whatever Stiedten was and then employs a manager he's got to work with, who he expressly didn't want. And then buys players against his wishes and does everything possible to purposely make his job untenable. Joke of an owner.
And we aren't skint either- well not in terms of PSR. That myth they've been putting out there has been busted. We've got a load of room there. All that's stopping us is Sullivan not wanting to spend. Hence Brownhill being the first signing of the summer.

Antonio should be released if what he's after is more dosh. At 35 we are just doing him a favor if keeping.
Brownhill is a decent 3 choice backup type of player. But im afraid our glorious owner is thinking the opposite. Money saves and midfield sorted.
Sullivan and Brady OUT OUT

Sunderland may spare us.
I don't think even we would do this but what a joke it would be to sign a near 30 year old and a 34 year old to a midfield that desperately needed youth.

Antonio, Brownhill.. at this rate we're going to add another 200 years to the overall age of the Squad, not reduce it.
I see Henderson's also looking for a new Premier League Club...

The Brownhill signing is a reflection on Sullivan and his ambitions/judgements rather than Potter.
I can’t think of another club where this happens. Certainly not a successful club.

If not for the crash I would have had Antonio out the door with the 4 players released at season end
The idea we are offering anything to a 35yo who was in a major car crash is beyond belief
Think he has the personality to be a Micah Richards style media pundit …. IF SUCH A THING IS REQUIRED… and that should be his next move
He can come on the pitch at the first home game for a farewell wave.

Michail Antonio has rejected West Ham's latest contract offer. The 35-year-old's representatives are said to be holding out for a longer-term deal with more guaranteed money, and negotiations have now ground to a halt.. • C&H
Behave yourself Michail, if true. You're lucky to still be alive and walking again, let alone being able to kick a ball professionally at the age of 30 fucking 5!
Knew we should have just wheeled him out for a token run out against Forest to say our goodbyes properly without wasting money and time on getting him back up to speed for a bit next season. Think it might be best to just call it a day there, Antonio..
All that being true, it is possible, even in his situation, to be offered a contract too insulting to take, and this is Sullivan we're talking about.

I think there's a difference, Wolves fans said Kilman was a range from bang average to absolutely pony, and definitely a shit captain across the board.
Burnley fans range from decent to very good player, especially at certain things, as well as being an excellent captain.
There's also the £40mil discrepancy.
I didn’t need Wolves fans opinions as I already had my own, same with this bloke.
Seeing West Ham fans claiming it’s not a bad signing as he won’t play much is embarrassing. A bloke coming here to sit on our bench instead of being a regular at Burnley should be warning enough, if it were true, but he’s obviously coming here to play regular football.
This has all the hallmarks of a disaster signing for me. And does nothing to install any confidence in Potter.
You were over the moon when we got Potter. Food for thought.
No, I wasn’t.

Josh Brownhill will be to our midfield what Kilman is to our defence. Add an equally poor GK and striker and we will have the spine of a bottom half championship side.
