"Lots of good copies of films available at the moment. It’s screeners season, the lead up to the oscars! Saw Richard Jewell the other day and it’s not even out at the pictures"

Best shot for me in 1917 was when he finds the Devons and the Tommy is singing that song… superb piece that….

Noticed on the superb film addon I use (USS Defiant) that there are plenty of 1018i perfect versions of 1917 available at the mo… Ok not the same as the cinema experience with this film but next best…

"Best film I've seen all year so far (yeah all 29 days of it) it The Lighthouse. A slow decent into madness from isolation and drinking paraffin and maple syrup once you've run out of booze and you are in the midst of a terrible storm. A cross between Moby Dick and Erazerhead with archaic sea language that doesn't hold your hand so you can understand it easily. Brilliant, just like Eggars' last film The Witch. Honorable mention to 1917 though where Deakins is going to piss the Oscar for photography."

"Is 2017 the sequel to 1917, where we defeated the evil central powers in europe again, this time in a peaceful way by winning the BREXIT vote?"

Saw 2017 at the cinema on Sunday. Thought it was very Homeresque and quite like Apocalypse now in the constant set of trials for the main character had to get through to complete his mission. Will watch again.

"Trying to work my way through most of the oscar nominees and Ford V Ferrari is quite low on my list given my lack of interest in cars but I have heard good things about it. I watched 1917 over the weekend and have to echo the positive reviews on here. I did find the scene with the French woman a bit odd, or more what led him to find her... I swear the kraut was only a few feet behind him but didn't notice him pop in there. Oh, and the waterfall bit had some terrible CGI. Other than that an excellent film. I watched I Lost My Body last night - I think that might be my favourite so far although only up for best animated feature. It is very very French though so be warned."

Just got home from seeing The Gentlemen. An enjoyable and funny romp of a film. Great turn from Hugh Grant and an inspiring beard from Charlie Hunnam. I was gonna shave this weekend but that's convinced me to keep it.

Also think the guy who plays schofield should have been on the Oscar nominations - it’s a superb understated performance in the role

"crystal falace 10:36 Wed Jan 15 Re: 2020 Movies Watched Midway last night, was pretty good if not a little dragged out. Also the main character is called Dick best which made me chuckle alot because im a child Watched it last night... excellent I thought... Pear harbour - Marshall Islands - Coral Sea - Dolittle Raid - Midway... all shown.... little bit gung ho at times but that's understandable ... and the storyline is spot on.. .. and believable... which thinking back about 1917??"
