"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?
"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

"ironsofcanada makes a good point.working class people - and especially working class men - have always been told to 'man up', 'get over it' and all the other toxic things designed to keep them in their box. Fuck that."

"There are lot of people that come through the other side, Tom son. It’s much more common than people will admit. I don’t know if Piggy was depressed but I think we all felt a sense of what a waste his death was, and how we’d all go back and talk him out of it if we could. When you’re suicidal though, you can’t think straight. You don’t realise that you can change your life simply by changing the way you think. It’s not easy and it probably won’t happen quickly. It might take years but it’s very much worth it when you’ve got through to the other side."

"No expert but I understand depression is like anything else with your health: there are lots of things you yourself can do to improve your situation but sometimes you have to seek outside help. The kicker being : if you come from a working class background, seeking any kind of health help is at least subconsciously discouraged, I think. And again no expert, but I would think that consistently feeling the need to play a role on a football site might be a sign that you are at least a little depressed about your life."

All seems a bit limp wristed though. Worrying about the past or the future both of which you can do little about. You can sort debt out. You can get rid of toxic relationships. You can fuck off a shit job. You can do mindfulness and stoicism if you want to focus on the positives of the present. You can even take some pills if you want to risk it being shitty. Just get a fucking grip.

Apparently debt is the thing that induces depression and anxiety. Thankfully I've never had any debt for long for that reason.

"firstly i am in no way depressed. but i do find my job dull at times because i've been doing it almost 20 years so have seen and done almost everything. it pays very well, so in a way i am trapped in it. mortgage needs paying so i cant just ditch it and do what i wanna do and (start at the bottom) drop down to £30k. i can see how people get trapped in these situations."
