"Agree, of all the games to not start Phillips and not have a natural Def mid."

"Thats the issue with our squad. We lose just one player like Paq, Alvarez, Antonio even and others and no replacements"

"A few interesting things to look out for: Will two midweek matches affect Bowen. Will Paqueta play up in the middle, our out left? Will we sit back and counter? The XI looks great with a single exception. With Alvarez out, we suddenly look to start with only two defensive midfielders? Why now, and not at home against Burnley? Let's see. Predict 1-2, fear 2-0"

Would have thought it would be more of a counter attack game considering it’s away. I feel like they are going to rip us apart with Soucek and JWP in the middle. Would have even gone with a back 3 if not playing Phillips. Fingers crossed but I’m not feeling optimistic here.

Central midfield is poor and as mentioned weak. Paqueta is the best at tackling and winning the ball compared to both Tommy and JWP but he’s also the creative source so he will have to be doing both. Good job we have a big strong squad for the most critical month of the season.

"Alvarez needs to cut out the stupid lunges and yellow cards, misses too many games including away to Leverkusen as now suspended in both competitions."

Phillips has a big problem if he can’t get into the side when Alvarez is out. Every time JWP & Soucek have played without Alvarez it’s been weak as piss.

"No Phillips even for a tough away game when Alvarez is not available. Great signing, his career has gone further backwards since he joined."

Line up suggests Moyes has lost faith in Philips - wimpish WP picked ahead of him . Another dud signing - signed on the basis of performances 2 years ago .

"J.Riddle 10:42 Fri Mar 29 Yes Im turning a new leaf ;-) FCJ yes agree Coufal exposed by pace but has been helped a lot by Kudus this season just as Emerson was ( against Frieberg with their Japanese looking fella). However, Bowen likely to start there today and while he also helps in defence its not the level of protection Kudus provides imo. So, as u say, a worry. Isak is another with pace and quick feet that our CBs will struggle with. Alvarez is a massive loss and Paqueta a fitness doubt. Moyesball approach highly likely to fail as its based on low block, stay deep for 70 mins and hope to not concede, counter or set pieces, then release shackles last 10-20 mins. But we could be several goals down by then. I will dig out my magic rabbits foot and lucky clover, horse shoe etc and place it on the voodoo doll of Phillips because if he’s gonna come good its gotta to be today or his loan transfer ( at the insistence of Moyes over Steidtens choice of the youngster Osman now going to Brighton) will prove to be a bigger testament to Moyes ineptitude and incompetence when it comes to recruitment. That central midfield needs to be solid or we are buggered imo."

"Gordon is going to run an unhappy Coufal ragged. Cant see them not scoring. Probably Isak with a brace. Question is whether we do any attacking of our own. Bowen is in good form, Kudus can always score out of nothing. Antonio looked more up for it last game but consistency isnt always his thing. A draw would be a decent result but doesnt really help us in the league. Need to be picking up three points."

"I’ll be happy if we get rid of Moyes inferiority complex and just have a go at them, think Alvarez is too important to us to lose unfortunately, playing with proper intent could see us coming away with something but sitting back will get us fuck all."

"Sir Alf 1:49 Fri Mar 29 I'm loving your new found optimism. Geordies 0-1 Big Tom (ricochet in off the bar and upright from viciously whipped in Bowen corner, hits his elbow but comes off his right knee first and the VAR gods are kind to us). When Zouma is send to the Saudi knackers yard what chance Moyes making super Tom El Capitan?"

Seven games including Geordies in 23 days?! Moyes small squad can't see it.

They could have about 9 players out so we know what the outcome will be then. Home win incoming.
