General Election - July 2024

This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

Mimmler is right about lawyers; parties need leaders with clear vision and the charisma to inspire collective action. The lawyers take over when people are lost.

"‘Khan will put himself forward as a candidate’ I’ve read some shite on here over the years but this is right up there, what a fucking deluded, unfounded load of bollocks. I’m guessing the next five years we be full of this, deep joy."

"Some of you on here need to settle for up to five years of Starmer so that you can concentrate on your big issue which is who is going to be in charge of things on the right wing of politics. Mithering on about Khan ( who definitely does not see himself as PM ) is perhaps a deflection activity because the possibility of Priti, Suella or Kimi having the ability to transcend party and appeal to the country looks to be unlikely. In short it’s not the prospect of Labour MPs unsettling its government’s undemocratic majority that’s should worry you rather it’s the internecine strife that Farage will cause on the right. People of the centre and left will look on with interest."

"I would like to see a complete reversion to how it used to be such that there are no restrictions whatsoever on where you drive, when you drive or what you drive in and around big cities."

"tlf I said earlier in the thread that Starmer won't be in charge for long before the hounds come sniffing around for a leadership challenge and Khan will put himself forward as a candidate. Should he fail, he will of course blame the far right element of the party which will be fucking hilarious."

"Politics is filled with lawyers. Lawyers aren't trained to solve problems, they're trained to argue, deliberate, nitpick, twist words, and squeeze pennies out of you. It's why nothing important ever gets done and why they seem so unlikeable and dishonest in interviews and debates. The congestion/EV thing is typical lawyer behaviour. Create an issue, make it complicated and full of bugs, change the rules, never answer a direct fucking question about it and make sure its expensive for everyone. Seriously, look at a politician who used to run a business or was an engineer/scientist or soldier etc, someone who had to solve problems to get paid, and while you might not agree with them, they're like a different species to greasy weaselly lawyers like Starmer, Khan, Lammy etc."

"Why would Khan be worried about knife crimes and robberies? He is more interested in flooding London with immigrants and pocketing vast sums of cash. He is to London what Putin is to Russia. Be even worse now Labour is in, I expect his next goal is to be leader of the whole country. Watch your back Keir."

"Was wondering what they will do with the congestion charge when EV’s became widespread. Well I wasn’t wondering really as it’s always been obvious that the charge was another inelastic revenue creating tax and has nothing to do with stopping car driving or pollution by cars. He has contracts with set revenue amounts for the operators of the charge and so a goal of no cars in the capital is really not the ambition. He also uses the tax to fund his tube upgrades and Covid hit him hard for that money so I imagine getting paid is a much bigger deal than enticing people to buy EVs. How mental is that? You have a whole ULEZ thing going about how poulltion is killing people yet the big incentive for clean cars in the capital you’ve just taken away! And I remember clearly that the charge was set up to tackle congestion because it was causing pollution! Not just because it was causing traffic jams. If it’s about congestion then that only affects the car drivers themselves. So why not ask them if they’d rather spend 15 quid or sit in a jam? There are now numerous bus lanes and cycle lanes in the capital, everything is 20mph as well so no one is going to die being hit. when Ev’s are 100% there is no justification for the charge beyond it being mainly just a revenue maximising thing. And it hasn’t even stopped jams anyway! Just ban cars if you don’t want them there or license cars for specific days by there number plate. The charge is unfair. Rant over .."

"Anyone on here splashed out on an EV, enjoying the ¬£10 per year congestion charge whilst non EV motorists pay ¬£15 per day? Looks like from Christmas Day next year, he'll also be hammering you for the full ¬£15 per day. Honestly, you couldn't make it up with this devious cսnt."

"Making yourself look dumb again Svender. Vienna, Zurich and Copenhagen all rank right near the stop of any listening or ‘best city’. Like I said before, I like my cities to be safe, clean, beautiful, well located, not over priced and with a culture that I want to live amongst. London is largely none of those."

I'm seriously thinking of moving to the Norfolk coast or maybe Warwick in the next few years. Two hours commute time maximum to get back to see West Ham and my mates for a piss up in town.

I asked for alternatives to London as the worlds greatest city You listed half a dozen & then decided they were just cities you like Ok for you to have another go Have said it’s probably between London NY Paris & Tokyo Your criteria rating cities seems to be : Lack of Muslims Lack of Ethiopian restaurants Extra points if run by the Mafia and supportive of the paedophile ring known as the Catholic Church

"Think London is like any big city in Europe, America or even Australia, parts of it are great while other areas are like third world shitholes. Don't think we are far away from a tipping point in some major cities, the locals have had enough whilst the 'newcomers' can sense a feeling of being in control."

It's about time Khan or someone in his office done something about all the lime bikes dumped all over the place. Passed eight on the mile journey to the tube station on Friday and even one up a tree in the park. London may still be a great city but certainly has its issues Knife crime Fly tipping Spitting Unlicensed HMOS Organised Beggars A shit tube service To name but a few.

Having a preference on the culture you want to live amongst isn’t racism. Thanks for proving you’re an idiot.
