Just finished series 3 of Slow Horses, very far-fetched but not a bad watch and Gary Oldman's character is a chuckle.

13 minutes into Lockerbie The Search for Truth with Colin Firth. Bloody hell!
Bloody hell as in it's rubbish or potentially gripping?
As in gripping. Those first few minutes it spends on the crash over Lockerbie, that was the bloody hell. Can't imagine what it must have been like but this drama really hits you straight away. Don't know how to describe it really. From there it is an incredible drama a few episodes in. Firth is fantastic as is his screen wife played by Catherine McCormack. Thought I knew a lot of it due to documentaries etc, but don't know the half of it. One hard hitting piece of television.
Yes I watched trhe first episode last night and I have to admit the eyes swelled up. Horrific stuff. Brilliantly acted by Firth as mentioned before. The 15 second thing I'd heard before as you would regain consciousness as you decended.

I thought the Jackal was awful gave up after episode 1. I watched two recently that had gone completely under the radar these last few years, Rubicon 7.5/10 and The Sinner 8/10 but that's just series 1. Bad Sisters series 2 is totally unwatchable.
The Sinner with old croaky voiced Bill Pullman was top tv imo, think there were 4 seasons in total, with the first 2 being the best, so yea it did go downhill a bit like a lot of them do.

Monsieur.
The original for me. The film was a very accurate portrayal of the novel by Frederick Forsythe and I'm a big fan of his writing. There is almost 50 years between the two screen versions and tastes as well as techniques have changed, modern audiences seem to expect bigger bangs, faster cars and louder explosions etc.

Me too Swiss, I like Firth, one of the great actors of his generation.
I finished 'Jackal' last night, thought it was excellent and am delighted that a 2nd SERIES has been given the go ahead. Never really took much notice of Eddie Redmayne before but fuck me, what a performance he gave.
Going to give The Jackal a go, generally has had big reviews but also heard it got 'silly' at the end?
Firth was very good in a film he did with Nicole Kidman about him being a prisoner of the Japanese when building the death railway in the second world war. His character becomes friends with one of his captures later in life, which is based on a true story.
Railway man.
It was okay.
FIRTHs best role was DONALD CROWHURST

100 years of solitude - Netflix
spanish with english subtitles
south american family dynasty type thing with a bit of fantasy thrown in. You'll know after about 20 mins if its your cup of tea.
GG Marquez is a great writer . Chronical of a Death Foretold is a great book and film.

Just started The Blacklist on Netflix, it's not bad, only 2 episodes in but very watchable, think its been around a few years? but ive only come across it recently
Stars James Spader as an international criminal and one of the FBI, s Most Wanted who cooperates with the FBI in hunting down other criminals on his "Blacklist"
Black List is a banker. Pretty much keeps you interested after multiple seasons.

Found Black Doves a bit hard at times as it kind of fell between the floor boards of not being extreme or funny enough to be a parody piece like The Boys or The Gentlemen and not serious enough to be a proper Drama. Just ended up being a bit naff at times.
Day of the Jackal was brilliant until the final episode which was just too far fetched and unbelievable at times. The way they started the final episode with no explanation as to how he got from where he was at the end of the penultimate to where he started the final one caused me to lose a lot of respect for it. I dont want to give any spoilers but some other parts of the final episode that leave it open for a second season were to the detriment of the first season.
I agree with all of that except that last episode of Day of The Jackal I thought OK. It obviously opens things up for a season 2. Generally the whole series was brilliant.

It took me three episodes to clue on that Black Doves isn't meant to be taken anywhere near seriously, it's like a Tv's John Wick. Garbage, really.

Say Nothing.
Thought it was a powerful piece of TV. And doesn't glorify anyone or any one side.
