In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.
Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.
He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.
Welcome Graham.

WOW, just fucking WOW. How can you get something so fucking wrong? That starting line up and first half shit the bed first week of the honeymoon and the divorce lawyer is on speed dial in case he does it again.
It was way to early to get cocky with that experimental shit especially with a squad short on confidence and a crippled offense.
Credit where is due he tried to fix it and when we managed to move the ball we did it competently for a change, faith in the lads Orford and Scarles also appreciated but you've done your goodwill now with that shitshow. There are "green shoots" but 0 shots on target at home to Palace is un-fucking-acceptable.
He ain't getting the bullet for atleast 18 months no matter what happens but if he keeps pulling strokes like that it'll be 18 months that break him for good.

Surprised at the Stick he’s getting already on the Fulham thread.
what are people honestly expecting with what he has available?
don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager of ours have such a lack of options at his disposal.
Hes inherited a mess and this is going to take time.
Who made you judge and jury?? The old 'what do you expect' crap. Bore off. What I don't expect is an old man at the back who was finished 3 years ago, a fraudster in midfield, zero shots on target and passing the ball backwards all fucking game. That alright with you?
Manual - couldnt agree more!

Hard not to agree with this but its a bit of both here. Yes, Creswell should have been sold and replaced. Same with Antonio now they are done at this level. We looked a bit better after the subs came on and before the pen and yes we have to hope Potter realizes he cannot start that same 11 again and is learning, but the facts are we have bought some real duds and we have to address this. Potter gets time and some say on the next signings, the club needs to step up and back him.

I wonder what Troy Deeney means when he says “ I don’t see this working out long term “ in relation to Potter & us?
Strange thing to say
Probably that he thinks Potter is bang average.
I would agree with him

No I think you’ll find your gaffer is bang average, good old big Ange.

his opinion is fucking worthless, how long did he last at forest green as manager, just over three weeks? he needs to keep his gob shut
I agree, what he knows about football you could write on the back of a postage stamp, but he can still say what he thinks even if it is a nonsense. To be fair, when Potter was linked with us before there were plenty on here that didn't want him, some were venomously against it.
he's writing off a bloke with a solid dozen years in management, yet couldn't last a month at a clown club like forest green, and the plenty on here that were wary of potter hadn't yet experienced the spanish version of moyes
it really doesn't matter what we're venomously against, that little cսnt in charge calls every fucking shot and we get who we're given. just be aware that if and when potter demands too much, or gets too popular with the fans, that midget bastard will get his loyal team of glove puppets to shit stir via various sites, papers and youtube channels

Troy Deeney is probably a decent enough bloke - But let's be honest, he only works in the media for one reason and it isn't his knowledge or personality. He is as thick as shit and as dull as dishwater. So has to often say contentions things to get noticed.
As Manuel said, he's entitled to his opinion as is everyone else, but I wonder if he has any informative content to substantiate why he doesn't think it will be a good appointment long term? Probably not. His two brain cells get tired just ensuring he breathes, so its probably a push to get him to back anything he says up with anything worthy of listening to.

Deeney is entitled to his opinion and no need to get all upset about it, but it does seem a strange thing to say, would have made more sense had he just said he doesn't think it's a good appointment.

You say that but then why wasn’t Scarles played earlier instead of putting AWB at left back to cover for Emerson? You think Scarles was only decent in training a few weeks ago and forced himself in the team?
Guilherme could be doing well but we have 2 senior players ahead of him who are rated as some of the best players in the league (Kudus, Bowen). So what manager under the kosh is going to play LG ahead of them? LG progression needs a plan. They already had Bowen and kudus so what was the plan to develop this guy for 1st team football?
There is no way he’s a shit player.
You'd imagine that they were thinking one of Kudus or Bowen would move on in a year or two's time and then he'd step into that role. That thing called succession planning that anyone forward thinking is able to do. Brighton again being the prime example- their players get sold and someone else is ready to step right into the role in the team. The opposite of having your one striker or fullback get injured and have zero players in the squad on standby to step into the team fairly seamlessly.
Say what you like about his signings, but he had a plan. Even Fullkrug....he signed him for a manager that wants a forward who wants someone good in the air, good in the box, strong, and able to hold up play and bring others into it. Arguably Fullkrug fits that profile much better than Duran. So good or bad, you can see some logic.
Shame then he didn't bother (or remember?) to do his due diligence on the perma-crock spending bit on him for the privilege. Not that an old Striker fits Lopetegui's Striker Profile either. That would be the likes of Duran/Ormorodion..

By saying the AWB and Summerville were are best bits of our transfer business?
Maybe I should pretend they're not and drink the TIM cool aid juice?
Not by saying it. By repeating it. Again. And again. And again. It's like you have an agenda. Or you're just really boring.
Anyway, as usual you just ignore the whole point of what was being said so I won't waste time carrying on.

I think I do get it.
It's just I don't think it's a good thing to bring up as it paints Sullivan in a good light. The only 2 positives from the transfer window were AWB and Summerville. Sullivan's picks.
I think my issue is more with TIM as I still waiting for him to be as good as everyone tells me he is. Fullkrug was a disaster of a signing. I don't care if he fitted with Lopetegui's style (whatever that was).
Do you get it? It doesn't seem like it.
It's a bit like a couple of years back when Rice started playing as a B2B instead of the holding midfielder he was before. Was he good at it? Yes. Did it help the team? No. Not at all. We were worse because of it.
Not sure what you mean about painting Sullivan in a good light as the only one trying to do that is clearly you.

..."The only 2 positives from the transfer window were AWB and Summerville. Sullivan's picks. "...
Not beyond reasonable probability that Sullivan vetoed the purchase of better players (that were not his picks) in order to assert his authority (and line his agent mates' pockets).
And, no, I can't name names here, but all his faffing around with players like Duran suggest he has form for such an approach to deals.
