Stokes gone.
Was hoping we could hit 300 by lunch without further loss.

It's just ri se and repeat with Pope, as I say he's not always on the cusp of being dropped for nothing. I'd rather him have the gloves and bat 7, push Smith up the order.

Anyway, it's Crawley and Bashir that dont deserve to be anywhere near the team.

This happens every time, big score followed by a load of duds.

We can all be wise after the event, especially with Cricket, but there's a reason he's always on the cusp of being dropped. 100 followed by successive single digit scores, that's been his whole England career.

I'm still not having Pope, he is nowhere near consistent enough, he could get a ton here then average 10 for the rest of series.
Well, that's halfway there, anyway...

To be fair Crawley got a pretty tough ball from Bumrah & they seem WEDDED to him
England going along nicely at 5 an over now
India’s problem is that with Bumrah they are like NZ when Hadlee played … world class at one end & Ilford second XI at the other
Understand after injury Bumrah is only likely to play 3 of the 5 Tests which is a major boost for England

Crawley and Bashir shouldn't even be in the conversation to be in the Test team. I don't care if they suddenly do something in this Test, it is an insult to players out there who are grafting their nuts off in CC and performing consistently. Although I would pick Bethell over Haines, given he looks to the manor born.

I'm still not having Pope, he is nowhere near consistent enough, he could get a ton here then average 10 for the rest of series.

Need to get our bowlers fot, apparently Archer is fit for the next Test.

J. Smith
B. Duckett
J. Bethell
J. Root
H. Brook
B. Stokes (c)
O. Robinson (wk)
L. Dawson
G. Atkinson
J. Archer
J. Tongue / Potts/ Cook

Good fight back at the end 7/41 ….5 batsmen contributed 2 runs between them
Cloud rolls in & lights on. Bit of rain to delay Bumrah

Still don’t get why Anderson who is still the fittest bowler was sacked & Woakes who will be pushing 37 at the Ashes got the nod to carry on

Wood reckons he is aiming to be fit for the 5th Test & Archer will play for Sussex soon.
Not sure what is keeping Atkinson out. Pie addiction?

Saw the prematch & Wood & Broad wouldn’t say bowling first was wrong. Can understand Wood not wanting to get on the wrong side of the Kiwi brains trust but surely Broad doesn’t need to drink the Kool-aid now

Three centuries & two 4 ball ducks 🦆

Terrible decision to field first, exacerbated by one of the worst attacks we’ve had for years. Anybody could see it was an excellent batting pitch.

But the Baazballers get an easy ride from the press.

India will get 650+ if they want to.

36-year-old Woakes, Carse and Bashir is a woeful “attack” on that pitch against that talent.

Sunny day, no demons in the pitch
I know Headingley doesn’t deteriorate much these days on days 4 & 5 but seemed a strange decision for a self declared POSITIVE team
Wonder how the debutant feels sitting in the Pavillion with a 4 ball duck 🦆 when everyone else filled their boots
