Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.
Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?
Window this close season comes in two parts:
Part 1: 1st June to 10th June
Part 2: 16th June to 1st September

Squad I guess is stronger overall if Diouff turns out to be better than Emerson or Scarles and KWP turns out to be better than Coufal ( he aint nowhere near AWB’s level but not many are imo ).
But being the miserable, pessimistic git I am, the season still rests on athletes/pace and ability to press etc in midfield. Did not think this bloke at Leicester or Fernandez is it ? at Southampton provide the much needed pace or energy but will defer to others that may have watched them a few times. What I do know is if we are regularly starting games with Soucek, JWP and relying on Alvarez and Paqueta too for pace and energy, relentless pressing etc, we are fvcked again

I'm serious: everything is beginning to feel a bit 2002/03 around West Ham at the moment. We seem to be complacently wandering into an awful mindset where the expectations of everybody - board, manager, players and some fans - has gradually drifted downwards.
I'm fully expecting a one-kneed Nigel Winterburn, followed by a beaming and clueless Glenn Roeder (on the phone to Laurent Courtois), to walk into Rush Green and declare the second coming...
You cսnt, you almost triggered off a seizure after that horrific flashback.
Ag ag ag!

According to the german journalist on kumb . Our next signing after KWP will be the Leicester goalkeeper herman something or another. I left school at 15 in 1988 and it shows.

Any danger of actually bringing in some attackers and central Midfielders after we just let go of another one on our books and not yet another Defender...

Why is it decent business? Have you seen his wage demands?
He's going to be another second-stringer on big money, likely to play poorly when he's in the side. A wing-back version of Danny Ings.
No thanks. I'd wager that Scarles, with some more experience, will become a better left-back than him within 12 months (making a mockery of the versatility argument - because he'd become better cover for Diouf). Do we need the back-up to AWB to be on £75,000 a week? Or should we put that towards an international class striker?
I think it's decent business, as i think he's a decent player. Southampton fans think he's a decent player.
Im not happy with what's going on at the club, but I can't be bothered to get irate at every fucking thing. It's a free transfer and covers 2 positions which i think we need. I dont think Scarles is quick enough as a wing back.

So far, I'm not seeing a massive difference in the way we do transfer business from this summer to others.

I’d be well happy with Walker-Peters considering we stupidly released our only cover at right back and then pleaded poverty
releasing the 33 year old Coufal was '"stupid". Lol
It is when you’ve got no money to spend

Southampton fans seems to think he's a good player, and an excellent professional. I'll take that over what some say on here who probably see him 2/3 times tops last season.
Homegrown, covers both flanks, better as a wing back which is what we'll mostly be using, on a free (signing on fee aside). Decent business.

Makes perfect sense.
When AWB and Magic bugger off to the Afcon then we have readymade replacements in Scarles and KWP.

Walker-Peters is a decent Championship player - nothing more.
Couldn't give two wanks about his so-called versatility. "He's played in several positions" So what? Every time I saw him last season, he played badly in different positions. Why do we want versatility when quality matters more? You can find versatile players at Exeter City or Wycombe. But here's the clue: they play for Exeter City and Wycombe.
I fear that some fans are being conditioned into thinking that players whose best level is the bottom quarter of the Premier League or the top of the Championship are where we should be looking for signings.
The players I've seen us linked with in recent days, including Leicester midfielders and half of that terrible Southampton team...many of them were relegated last season for a reason. The Moroccan lad at Leicester looks half-decent, but disappeared in several of their games that I saw last season. Sure, he has good technique. But he shows it in rare flashes and he's a bit of a shrinking violet when tackles start flying. He's a YouTube highlight reel at the moment - not yet a consistent, Premier League-level player.
We're the 7th biggest club in the Premier League by revenues - the 16th biggest in the world. Why do we so often act like we'd be happy to scrape past relegation with a guy who was a walking mistake in a poor Southampton side?

KWP as a back up, versatile, knows the league, home grown. Can cover left and right and also enable AWB to play at cb if we're short there.. Sensible bit of business that may also enable us to spend more elsewhere.
Only gripe us AWB, JWP, KWP..
wtf..

medical apparently.
not overly impressed with that.
In terms of competition for AWB and also cover at LB if needed. I think this is good business. Free transfer aswell.
