A few good points here: a) Hamas did this to cause a rift between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Counting on Israel’s over retaliation making it hard for Saudi to continue closer ties with Israel and thus meaning Palestinians have even less leverage. Which I suppose in turn helps Iran out as having Arab states unified with Israel against them is a problem. B) when your losing a war it’s best to make a deal why you can. Palenstinians have rejected a multiple 2 state deals and have got less and less equity every time. They have far less than they had pre 1967 and it just gets smaller and smaller. Pragmistism is missing from their side. Maybe that’s where religion is the real killer as it’s almost the enemy of pragmatism. I personally feel that both sides keep getting upset about the children that are being killed but if they really cared about their kids they would cut a deal. I don’t think they care about their children enough at all.
