"I’m sure some of you must know? Lineker, Rylan and Jeremy Vine have ruled themselves out. I’m sensing the “ victim “ is male by the way Sky news are talking about it. Some proper wrong uns on TV."

"Didn't the tabloids know about Jimmy Saville then? Fuck me, even I knew about Jimmy Saville after the shit hit the fan on his announcement that he wanted to do a broadcast from Faraday Building (which was one of only 2 international exchanges in the country at the time). Engineers & Operators threatened to walk out if he set foot in the building."

"And there's no question that the tabs want to open up this story into a much ""bigger"" question of how the BBC behaved when it was made aware of the allegations. Which is a legitimate concern - but something the agenda-ridden tabs will slant towards anyway..."

"Mike - that couldn't be any further from the truth if you had studied a PhD in bollocks for the past seven years. Believe me, ""the media"" love nothing more than stitching up one of their own. Especially when it comes to the tabs going after the BBC. You're talking about the two newspapers leading this story The Sun and (now) the Daily Mail, run separately by owners and boards who believe the BBC is a terrible state monopoly that needs to be broken up. They will not spare giving this guy a kicking - whether he deserves it or not. And, yes, I do know the details. It is all faintly comical and a bit batshit - but there ""might"" yet be a criminal offence involved. So the BBC has to take it seriously, of course."

"The media (all flavours) have form for closing ranks and ""looking after their own."" The Gavvy fund is not as unique a concept as some of us would like."

Can’t an MP name this wrong’un in the Commons without fear of being sued for defamation?

"If only to stop all this speculation, the Beeb should name him / her? HIM/HER/THEY/FLOWERPOT Get it right! Think the BBC justified the hounding of Cliff Richard as he had a criminal record. Mistletoe & Wine i think it was"

Its just a great story. Some presenters are going to make some good money out of this. BBC management shockingly poor once again. They literally have no moral compass.

"You don’t need to be a genius to work out the correct course of action required of the BBC Allegedly aware six weeks ago, they should have immediately suspended the accused and alerted the police Thereby, able to remain silent as it’s a police matter and being seen to have been professionally reactive But no, let it fester until the Bun got hold of it, then run around aimlessly trying to cover tracks - not that they have form is it? If it’s the bloke it appears to be I’ll be delighted to see the self satisfied shitcunt fall and await the day when the BBC is defunded and his nouveau Guardinista ilk go with him"

"FC would they be allowed to do that? If there is an ongoing police investigation., which as I understand it there is? Though I think the police have asked for more information I suppose because certain people have come out and said it isn't them, those staying silent and who are being most rumoured about are just keeping the rumour mill going. However at present they are probably covered by privacy laws as well as defamation ones."

"Online speculation could be breaking law - media lawyer There have been lots of media lawyers doing the rounds today, explaining the areas of potential legal jeopardy in cases like this - one in particular. Mark Stephens told the BBC earlier that people posting on social media about the unnamed BBC presenter are in danger of breaking the law. Speaking on Radio 4's Today programme, he explained that the laws of defamation come into play when even suggestions of someone's identity are made online. ""Even if you don't say 'it is' - by asking the question 'is it?' and identifying an individual - what you are doing is saying 'I believe this individual is bad or could have possibly behaved in a reprehensible way,"" the media lawyer told our radio colleagues. Stephens went on to say lawyers call this Twible - a combination of Twitter and libel - and that dealing with cases of it provide a ""crust"" for many lawyers. BBC If only to stop all this speculation, the Beeb should name him / her?"

Being depressed does NOT affect your understanding of right and wrong and is NOT an excuse either for general perviness or for breaking the law by paying a minor for sexually explicit images of themselves.

If it is Huw then heads will roll big time as he was allowed to collect an award at an awards ceremony on behalf of the BBC news team one month after the supposed investigation began. I somehow feel this could well be the tip of an iceberg. More allegations to come Who knew what ? How many others ?

IIRC The Sun's countdown was worse as it was for Charlotte Church to reach 16 years old so she reached the age of consent... That's how hypocritical they are...

The world is rife with hypocrisy For Example This site has a thread on Depression pinned at its head. And yet this thread's leading choice castigation is someone who has spoken openly about his 20 year battle with that problem.

"Alfs 3:26 Mon Jul 10 Re: So who is the mysterious BBC presenter? Totally agree, andy. Hypocrisy is rife when it comes to this type of thing. As Debs said, The Sun literally had a countdown for Sam Fox to get her tits out at 16. And even now runs stories with the byline 'Rita Ora arrives braless to...', followed by a half a dozen photos. Yeah give the Sun their due there was no countdown... Sam Fox was already 16 when she got her 34D's out... as Joe said it was the Sunday Sport that done the countdown with Lindsey Dawn McKenzie... TBF though for the previous year at the age of 15 she had been sending round tits out photo's of herself to agencies .... I remember it at the time and bought the Sunday Sport as a lot of lads my age did... no one ever thought anything of it... oh and Mooro used to do a good piece in it"

"Heard from a reliable source that it's Chris Packham, the whole thing is a misunderstanding as he paid for negatives of a teenage girls photos of boobies (seabird) and the whole thing has been misconstrued. He then asked for a shag (another seabird) and that's made matters worse."
