If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
Thomas Tuchel might be availeble soon and I rate him even though it hasnt been rosey with Bayern... Over to you
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I'd be happy to bring Carrick in as long as it was established that he had the job for the long term... if we were 16th in November then we accept it and let him grow into the role and accept that it would take longer to get back into Europe etc... Might be better in the long term but if he is successful you can guarantee he would be off to Man Utd at the first opportunity. We would also be less likely to retain the likes of Kudus who I doubt would see Carrick as a positive enough appointment.

Didn't Boro have loads of injuries at the start of the season. Given where they were a few months back to being on the brink of the play offs is pretty decent. Carrick.is obviously doing something right. Worth considering.

I said we should have got Carrick in 18 months ago and I still wouldn't mind him. He's just missed out on play off's and they have been a selling club. So it's no wonder they have just missed out this time.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"I don't care what the reasons are for Middlesbrough finishing mid table this season, they are a big club in the Championship and should be doing better than that. Ipswich have just come up from League 1 and will be promoted automatically, in comparison. I would have entertained the idea when Moyes should have been sacked last season,, out of desperation to see us play some football, but not now. We should be aiming for much better."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"I agree with some on Carrick. Probably won't be favourite but should be a contender with the work he's done at Middlesborough and his links to the club. Maybe, all along, this was all part of the Carrick deal? Either way, Lupetogu seems to be the least inspiring out of the bunch so far, so there is a good chance it will he him!"

"""It is going to be a long three weeks..."" Never a truer word spoken! The papers are going to have a field day with the speculation - and not just about West Ham."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"It is going to be a long three weeks... assuming Amorim is our first choice target then, having had to apologise already he isn't going to say anything further until the end of the season. Hopefully a deal has been agreed as you have to assume that several talks have taken place. TS must have spoken with him before he flew over. Fonseca is trying to secure a CL place for Lille and they probably won't appreciate any distractions. I think no news is probably good news at this point If anything is announced before 19 May it will probably be the unemployed Lop guy."

"Sum, Cheers - I genuinely don't know much about Hoeness at Stuttgart. He's an interesting option: Steidten seems to like him. The German league is probably the closest to the Premier League in terms of style, relentlessness and physicality, too, so that's perhaps a better pond to fish in."

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"Shorty - if I felt Sulli and Steidten were the sort of people to look at upcoming Championship managers then I'd definitely have a flutter. But, realistically, I doubt Steidten (in particular) even knows the Championship exists. We'll probably appoint a foreign manager. No problem with that - but I just hope they do their homework. Avram Grant and Pellegrini, anybody?"

"“I don't know much about this Hoeness fella (as a manager) who Steidten seems to like.“ I’ve heard he sets his teams up to play more on the front foot. If we get him in as manager, I reckon we’ll get to see more than our fair share of blockbusters at the LS."

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"Yeah, I saw the second leg - and Middlesbrough were really poor once they went 2-0 down. They lost any belief and panicked. But they beat Chelsea in the first leg - with a patched-up team - which can't be forgotten. Carrick has done a great job at Boro. As others have said or implied, though, there is a foreign manager premium in the Premier League. Owners and recruiters get blinded by phone calls from self-interested agents like Pini Zahavi touting around some Poundshop Peps whose careers have sometimes been a trophy parade through weak leagues. I just hope we don't fall into that this summer. Carrick is as good - if not better - than many (not all) of the names being touted around. There are some great foreign managers out there, of course. But it's a wide pool, and there is some absolute dross masquerading as 'progressive'. We've fallen foul of it previously."

South. Even as option B. I doubt Carrick is even on the radar. Why don’t you have a flutter.I would imagine you would get some cracking odds?

Carrick can piss off. I had Middlesbrough to finish top 6 in a ridiculous accumulator and its the only bit that's let me down.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"They were absolutely dire in the 2nd leg... I think at least 2 of Chelsea's goals came from playing it out from the back from ridiculous positions which they persisted with while Carrick looked gormless on the touchline. As I said, all part of the learning process and he may turn into a top class manager but no way Sullivan goes down that route. Russell Martin would be the better Young English bet from the Championship."

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"You mean the Middlesbrough side - with all of their injuries in the Championship - that got to the semi-final of the league cup before eventually losing to Chelsea, who've spent a billion pounds on players and who shit international substitutes on 200k a week? Don't forget - Carrick's side won the first leg 1-0. They got hammered in the second leg at Stamford Bridge."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"Only watched 'Boro 3-4 times this season but wasn't impressed. In their two matches against PL opposition Carrick was very much rabbit caught in the headlights, he didn't seem to have a clue and was very naive. Obviously all part of the learning process but can't see Sullivan taking that risk."

"I fear you're right, Manuel. Which is a bit of a shame: not that you're right (!), but because of what that means in practice. My preference would be Amorim. But realistically we'd need a backup plan. Mine would be be Carrick. Although, I don't know much about this Hoeness fella (as a manager) who Steidten seems to like."

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"I'm not against Carrick, plays good football, respected bloke and knows us, and having been at a giant club and under Ferguson for so many years he will be well aware of how players should behave and what it takes to be a top player etc. But the majority of ex Man Utd players haven't done well as managers and he would represent a gamble, realistically we aren't going to offer it to him."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I said before. The key factor in all this is David Gold. David Sullivan has only ever had to keep his previous business partner line. Now he has a few other BILLIONAIRES he not only has to work alongside. But has to convince he’s way is the best course of action? I really can’t see myself. It’s Amorim.

The longer this is dragged out the more names are being thrown out there. I look forward to being linked with Frank Lampard Jr. That will keep them interested.!

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"He's hardly treading water, Shorty. He took them from a relegation spot to the play-offs last season. This year, he has had one of the longest injury lists in English football, and little cash, and he's still mid-table. He's been relying on loans from other Championship clubs. In many ways, it is good that Carrick has had a tough environment in which to learn his trade. Because he's been tested and has had to work hard to achieve every place. You don't want a manager who's career so far has been a parade at a relatively rich club in a weak league - like ten Hag (where even Martin Jol won a trophy). I agree: I think Amorim is a little different. There's something about him that instinctively makes you think he's got it. And he has easily dismissed Benfica and Porto in Portugal. I'd take him tomorrow. But he seems to have gone cold on us. In those circumstances, I'd certainly look at Carrick. He's achieved quite a lot on a shoestring - and has had a proper grounding. Be interesting to see what he could do here with a bit of cash in the Premier League."
