Everton vs West Ham | PL | 29.7.25 | Predictions and Match Thread

Until West Ham find out mojo again,  a game against a David Moyes managed side will always have some kind of extra significance.

Layer on the pressure on Potter who looks like a dead man walking, and this game is under intense scrutiny.

It looks for all the world like Potter has two games, not to save his job, but to buy a stay if execution, against Everton and Arsenal, made none the easier by these two being amongst the best set piece side in the league....the Hammers clear achilles heel.

The stats this far have backed up the eye test...West Ham ARE terrible at defending the box, none of the keepers help out on crosses, and we give up corners willy nilly.

But if Potter is to cling on, nothing but a win here will do.

With Everton's prowess at set pieces, Soucek's absence, and Potter's love to tinker, I expect him to fuck around with things and go to a back five.

We look a lot more dynamic going forward.

Magassa already played more forward passes than JWP this season so far.

I'd rather him be honest. Lack of that in the game.

Manager has been ruthless, but honest.

We've just got rid of a mealy mouthed PE teacher, why on earth do we want a diplomat as manager? I think it's superb.

If anyone should have been completely dropped from a matchday squad it's Rodriguez. How he's still attending matchday Squads, fuck knows..

No complaint with the lineup, but I hope Magassa shows more than he did against Palace. Just dropping JWP won't get it done. Against Palace, he wasn't our worst player. The way we defend and how we set up for corners will be key.  Don't think Nuno will be able to change that overnight

Still COYI

Nuno has said that Ward-Prowse has been left out FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TEAM

Fucking hell! I'm starting to like this geezer.

First ever start for Magassa having only 2 Training sessions with the new Coach in the middle of the park for his new Club.. 🤯

Either extremely brave or stupid decision.

Very pleased to see all the youth on the Bench. I would have had Ward-Prowse on the Bench as well but there you go.

Looks like a 4-2-3-1 which should be a bit simpler from whatever it was Potter was trotting out. I'm hoping Paqueta sits a little deeper though maybe 4-3-2-1, since (at least for Brazil) he seems more effective as a deep-lying playmaker and can maybe help shore up the middle since Magassa and  Fernandes have never started together.

I like the appointment of Nuno. What he did with Nottingham Forest was impressive. I don't care how much they spent. He turned them around fairly quickly. We have much deeper rot here so not expecting the same or as quickly and we still have the dido merchant mucking everything up.

stubbo-admin wrote: 29 Sep 2025, 18:37 Personally I'd have liked to see him on the bench. Whilst he's not really up to it now, he's a good honest English pro in a dressing room largely devoid of role models and leaders.

Just unceremoniously dumping him...not sure that endears him to the squad.  But we'll see.

No one knows for sure what's happened, and certainly not some twat broadcasting from his bedroom. He might have an injury.
Nothing to see here.
