Well it's a fast turnaround for this one.  After a hard fought, but somewhat disappointing point at Old Trafford, we head to the south coast for an arguably more difficult looking game on paper.

Brighton have been a bogey side since they arrived in the division, as well as being the envy of many fans for their progressive owner and stellar recruitment model.

Teamwise, Nuno gets to 'bring' Paqueta back (I won't use the term 'welcome'), and the messaging around Summerville remains opaque at best.  Plus as to what happened to Guilherme who knows, but with both him and Igor missing we went from a squad of 3 Braziliians to none versus Man Utd in one fell swoop.

This leaves at least a decision around Soucek, but if Summerville (or Guilherme) were to be available, another decision around 2 of 3 from Fernandes, Magassa, and Potts.

I'm working on the basis that Paqueta will come back in, and Summerville will at best be fit for the bench:

Brighton remain high up in the current form table, scoring twice as many as they concede.  West Ham are midtable over the last 5 games, are at a scoring ratio of roughly 1:1.

Hard to see anything but a defeat here, but we have a punchers chance (all be it, the blows themselves are fairly lightweight and will need to find the Brighton chin with surgical precision to knock them out).

Yeah, that’s some odd decision making. There is an understanding for changing the shape depending on the opposition, so no huge complaints with three at the back. Wilson was absolutely run into the ground Thursday so with Summerville fit, I can see some sense in pushing Bowen up front, if that is the plan. But Rodriguez instead of Magassa or Potts is ridiculous. Play them half and half or 60/30 of you don’t think both can go the full game, surely.

Thing is Stubbo surely you do your best to be in or ahead in the game before you take off those that may have had a tough game on Thursday.  Start your best team and then make changes.  Magassa with no legs is better than Rodriguez with full legs!  If you are fit enough for the bench you are fit enough to start surely.

Trying to think through it logically, he's obviously of the opinion that a game at Sunday lunchtime after a tough Thursday night game.is too much for the midfield that put it all in to go back to back. Same with Wilson.

So he's using his squad....trouble of course is our squad has a huge drop off in quality, so bringing in the backups is akin to killing our chances by about 40%.

We all want to see our best XI every game, and understandably given the predicament, but he's clearly 'managing' the team....Magassa had cramp, Potts put in a big shift and is young and has played a lot of games lately. 

Trouble is we're desperate for points. He clearly knows this is not his best XI, but he's trying to manage the workload.

I get it. Just dont like it.

He could have played Kante.
