NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Got Carson Wentz in because he has been building up his form. Bad mistake not playing him today, he looks electric."

Off to watch the Dolphins v the Jags. Only other time I've seen the Fins was against the Giants at Wembley and they went on to win the Super Bowl. No chance of lightning striking twice! It'll be interesting to see what the view's like from the back of the Spurs stadium too.

"I know there's some college football fans amongst us myself included. If you've got a moment, perhaps you might appreciate the Texas A&M halftime show. It is as impressive as any play I've seen in football."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Herm - you so seem to be failing to grasp the 'put it in an email' bit. That does change 'thoughts' into something called correspondence. If sent to more than one other individual (I have no idea whether Gruden's email was - and couldn't care less), even an email could also be construed to constitute a 'publication' for defamation purposes. That's the law. Which are not just thoughts - but have actually been written down. But I do generally agree with you. It does look and feel a bit 'storm in a tea cup', given that the emails were probably private and sent ten years ago. But this is the era we live in now - and anything people commit to correspondence can come back to bite them on the ass."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"The lack of perspective around Gruden is telling. He slagged off a bloke he doesn't like who has massive lips and took the piss out of his big lips. That seems to have qualified him as a grand Duke of the Klan. It's possible to say something nasty about someone who isn't your colour and not be a candidate for the Hitler youth. In more innocent days gone by as a youth in a mostly black school, their lips were fair game and they got to talk about how we were stuck with tiny cocks. Fortunately for me I didn't conform to the stereotype and sported a whopper. Unfortunately for me I have lips that could stop a Lamarr Jackson run."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"""Just to be clear, and pedantic, 'thought crime' deals only with your thoughts."" Thoughts...which were put in a private email between two people. Bit of a stretch to say they were published by him. He was guilty of thinking the wrong things and not knowing that in a few years they would be considered worse than punching your wife or little kid in the stomach (see Tyreek Hill who is still employed in the NFL)"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"The Gruden story that is playing out seems completely at odds with the character we saw on Hard Knocks. In fact, I am astounded as he seemed to have reciprocated affection with all of his players, regardless of colour. Knock on wood if you are with me."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Naturally, I'll give Saleh some time because he was a fine DC for the 49ers. But his early days have not been covered in glory. Some of his schemes look dated and, as with other past DCs-turned-HCs we've had (Ryan, Bowles, Mangini, Edwards)...he's struggling on the offensive side of the ball. Even with a better roster, he'd have lost us these opening games through bad play-calling. I like the cut of his jib and he promises much. But Saleh has a LOT to learn."

"And to be clear - I couldn't give a rat's ass about Chucky Gruden. Or Caitlyn's Genitals, or whatever she's called. I'm already at the stage of the season where the Jets' annual meltdown is weighing on my shoulders more than it should. Fuckers."

"Just to be clear, and pedantic, 'thought crime' deals only with your thoughts. The practice of articulating your thoughts in print or online, even in email, is known as publishing or, at worst, correspondence. ;-)"

I take it it's ok that everyone calls him Chucky though after a demented midget doll?

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I googled Demauris Smith to see how big his lips are. In the interests of accuracy, Gruden had a point In one email he laughed about Bruce Jenner. If you've seen a picture of Bruce in ladies clothes or heard h speak in an attempted high voice and haven't found it funny, you haven't got a sense of humour. In another he called Goodell a faggot. Not ideal if he said it in public but shouldn't be sackable in a private communication. Apparently was annoyed that a team were pressured to sign a gay player. Another fair point if true. Doesn't say he's against gay players, says he is against teams being pressured to draft them on the basis of their sexuality. Ultimately, he has been sacked for thought crimes."

Mr. Burns 12:35 Not sure anyone else can use injuries as an excuse when compared to how the Giants season is turning out. Horrific injury list

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Yup- no doubt I've written things in emails in the past when I was a teenager I really wouldn't be proud of. Probably reflecting the lack of evolution in general society back then compared to now. I should think a huge percentage of people would be 'burnt at the stake' for past wrongs. Regardless of all that, (and Gruden has to take responsibility and ownership for what he's written now he's been 'outed'- as you say, he was a grown man) it's absolutely snide to either file away for future malevolent use or hack someone's private correspondence to use against them."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Always using injuries as an excuse! I'm not so sure on the Cards, Murray will get hit and hurt then what? Rams for the division."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Nothing but last for us in the division, but that was nailed on after about 30 mins when our best 4 RB's were all injured for long periods, as the receivers are mainly shit and we're a running team!!! Lance has potential, but another of those chaps who is brilliant running, but bang average when it comes to throwing (nfl is currently full of them) and so he needs to improve on that big time. Cardinals will win the division, but your mob will piss 2nd as the seahawks are shit as well."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"How's Trey LANCE getting on Grumps? Looking forward to paying me out again? I see that twat Nutsy has gone quiet as well, typical."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"World is now full of sad cunts scorch who have to be busy fuckers as well, I find it all mental. I was proper racist when younger and someone would have a field day on shit if technology was around then, which is bollocks as that's not me now, but would be tough luck and tarred with that brush forever. Do find it odd when someone in grudens position is like it though. Surely working with different ethnicities showed him (like me) that colour means fuck all, people are cunts or quality regardless of it. Love my black and Asian mates, especially the casual racism between us ü§£"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Some of the stuff is pretty bad and he's bang to rights for it, but why was the below worth noting? '...called then Vice-President Joe Biden a ""nervous clueless pussy""ù; and exchanged photos of women wearing only bikini bottoms.' Insulting a politician and sent/received a couple of topless photos- so like basically every human adult ever? And what sort of person goes through a person's private emails to then disclose them, even if what's in them is some nasty stuff? Social media available to everyone anyway is one thing, but this is another. Either way not excusing what he's said, but questions over who/how his private stuff has been revealed to the world?"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"May be old emails, but not as if they were done when he was young and naive, so his views won't have changed if he does indeed hate poofs and anyone not white or whatever was in them. With Bowen and the cricketer who's name escapes me, they were done when they were kids and didn't know any better."
