LAF - of course it's about opinions and there is nothing ignorant, tedious or outlandish about fans making theirs known about how we can kick on following Chelsea and Brighton with a positive, commanding approach at Luton. Also, ignoring concerns that Moyes will go back into his shell and cost us points is simply disingenuous - experience tells us you simply can't guarantee even a draw that way. As for Vexed, I happen to think he's got his jib on the right way most of the time even he obviously lives with his mum.

When paq played bad couldn’t pass 10yards which was most of the season then I comment after the game, he was shit against Brighton but we won so didn’t stick out like Moyes, you can’t wait for us to lose can you so you endlessly mutter on about moyes

RM10 - Is that like when every match thread last season you repeated that Paqueta was shit and shouldn't be nowhere near the starting line up.. Or is it OK when you do it?

It’s a constant opinion that the same people just repeat and repeat, let’s wait and comment after the match to see what the tactics were.

Hammer I am Sorry what does your list have to do with us playing Luton on Friday? Are you suggesting those stats mean in Moyesball we should trust? We are all stating opinion and that is he needs to demonstrate that he can adapt this squad to play anybody - with Bournemouth he got it wrong, he shouldn't have sat back - they were there for the taking but he let them back in with poor tactics and poorer subs... Against Chelsea and Brighton teams who like a lot of possession he got it right - he played ugly and got the results.. Against Luton we expect him to change up a gear get more possession and still win we need to break them down and not get caught on the break if that's how they will play it... It will be interesting as better teams may adopt the same approach sit back see what we can do and it will be good to see how/whether we can actually retain the ball and use our better players to play some actual football.

H and P: don’t mind at all if you express your opinions on Moyes’ negative tactics - hell, I’ll join in with you if they come to pass. Like you, I got fed up with them last season and don’t want them repeated game after game this season. Like I’ve previously said, after ten games or so we’ll have a good idea how we set this season. None of us wish to see 20% possession every week. Posts from the likes of Vexed, though, who think any comments that fail to slag Moyes off, mark you as ‘Pro Moyes’ camp and therefore need to clear off this forum. He’s a very silly boy who could argue with himself if he was alone in his own nursery.

Oh yeah I forgot that us winning a couple of games on the bounce suddenly means that the football is good to watch and Moyes is a great manager. I obviously misjudged what a bunch of fickle cunts lurk on this dog slow site.

Do you mind if we express an opinion on Moyes’s negative tactics? After all, we’re about to play Luton and if we aren’t set up to dictate terms and dominate the game this time, then when is that going to happen?

I am interested to see if Moyes adapts his defence/counter attacking tactics considering the opponents. I would really like to see our possession statistic go up to something like 50% without losing our effectiveness. It's a difficult task for Moyes and I doubt we will see much change unfortunately, still a 2-0 win would do me at the end of the day.

I see Vexed is still promoting that he knows more about the game than a fella who has been in the management business for more than 20 years. We’re all entitled to opinions but, bloody hell, move on from the Moyes baiting. For me, the Luton game is crying out for a Soucek return. I’d start Kudus on the bench and bring him later. I can see that will unpopular with some on here.

I watched Chelsea play Luton and for parts of the game Luton played the better football without scoring. I wouldn't write off Luton that quickly and I suspect, neither will Moyes. At home for the first PL game with their enlarged 11,000 seat stadium will see an atmosphere of excitement and noise from the Luton fans urging their players on. We'll defend in depth from the start and quite rightly imo...

Moyes will decide this is the perfect occasion to make a point and will go for a 0-1, 79th minute penalty win. They will have 90% possession as an experienced side including Ings, Soucek and Cresswell is fielded with Àlvarez making way for Benrahma. However, as the weary day wears on and Luton go into a deserved 0-1 lead with a 30-yard screamer from a centre half, Paqueta will see a second yellow and they will score again from the spot. Moyes will regret a “lack of discipline” but point out we are still in “Europe”.

Come on, you don't escape the league of death by being shit. It took us twelve years to appreciate Brighton wouldn't roll over for us so why see a team in fairyland being any different? Show them no respect and they will kill us. The media will be all over us as patsies to a team that stick together and fight a team of entitled show ponies. I'd love it if we took most of the attitude we took to Brighton with perhaps 20% more ball. Let's not get too carried away about how brilliant we are and have to steamroller over a recently promoted team.

I recall being at a midweek game there in which the sainted Sir Trev was given his one and only yellow card for doing absolutely fuck all. And hard to believe that Luton, both the town and the ground are even bigger shit holes than they were then

All I remember is going Kenilworth rd in 1980 looked it up 1-1 Ray Stewart assume a penalty. 20k attendance. Biggest khazi trouble before inside along the side assume that was their end and outside. Mates said they had a large mob of blacks. I was surprised, seems to be more Pakistani now? Never went back.
