Daily Quiz anyone?

Post easthammer »

"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"That's honest of you Texas. I must say when I was in the US I loved Denny's, although I never had a grand slam! Red Lobster was a fave as well although I doubt they do Lobster, Crab, Shrimp, Baked Potato and Salad for $15 anymore!"

"Love it MD, that's my sort of thing although if the answer is more than a character nickname from one of my favourite films I'm buggered on that one! Assume 13 is the original actor from the 80's classic?"

"Anything for Wednesday Rios? Alvin C. Copeland claimed he named the stores after the fictional detective Jimmy ""Popeye"" Doyle (portrayed by Gene Hackman) in the 1971 film The French Connection, which came out a year before the chain was founded, and not the comic strip character Popeye the Sailor. The company's early brand became deeply tied to the cartoon star with its sponsorship of the Popeye & Pals children's show in New Orleans, and the character appeared on items from packaging to racing boats. The name is spelled ""Popeyes"", without the apostrophe commonly used by other restaurant chains such as McDonald's and Hardee's. Copeland claimed facetiously that he was ""too poor"" to afford an apostrophe. The chain later acquired rights to use Popeye the Sailor for marketing and used this for 35 years. In late November 2012. AFC announced the mutual termination of their licensing contract with King Features Syndicate, effectively ending their association with the Popeye characters."
