Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Re: Lopetegui
"He keeps banging on about elite level management, we’re not and never have been an elite level football club. Elite level is champions league and winning trophies - which funnily enough he did for 3 years on the spin at Sevilla and won a competition we couldn’t win."

Re: Lopetegui
"Supporters of the club, especially the proper ones who pay good money to watch the team live, have a right to inform and express an opinion. Who cares if it's only one game? Lopetegui has managed for more than one game in his career and has been sacked from every job he has had bar Wolves, which he walked out of after a hissy fit over transfer policy. A loser is a loser and Lopetegui is a loser of a manger at the elite level. Relegation battle ahead."

"POV, If, at the start of the season, you ease in your assets (Future) and don't expose them in a sink or swim scenario, plus you either give your old guard a chance to prove themselves OR showcase for sale are you a bad manager? One. Game. One. Game and people are already catastrofucking. Thought we were made of sterner stuff."

Re: Lopetegui
Paqueta wasnt great but he has to come so deep due to Soucek being too scared to show for the ball Our CB's or Rodriguez get the ball and Soucek goes and hides next to their CB making Paqueta come so deep to get it

Re: Lopetegui
Thomas Frank is in my opinion the most impressive manager in the PL. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him lose his temper with his players or any official. I’d like him at West Ham but he’s such an intelligent affable bloke I doubt he’d be willing to work for the gruesome twosome in charge at the London Stadium.

"COYI - Out of interest, would you still take Mourinho who you were calling for earlier this year? And I don't just mean instead of Loppy. http://westhamonline.net/forum_flat.php?10163545%7Co"

Re: Lopetegui
"“Penalty aside, Pacqueta stunk the place out again on Saturday.” Yeah, apart from getting a card for absolutely no reason (maybe he is fixing decisions with mind control?), he was consistently the player from whom both Kudus and Bowen were receiving quality ball. He even tried to supply Soucek, which wasn’t pleasing on the eye, I’ll grant you that."

"Only possible reason for Soucek, Coufal and Antonio figuring is the window. But there is absolutely no justification for any starting."

Re: Lopetegui
"I haven't said we will be relegated, so how can I be ""proved wrong"" for something I haven't stated? I said pre-season that I think we will be battling relegation this season, and nothing from Saturday's performance suggested anything to make me change my mind."

"Penalty aside, Pacqueta stunk the place out again on Saturday. Happy to give the new manager plenty of time for the new players to settle into the side, not happy he waited so long to make changes on Saturday though."
Re: Lopetegui
"But you weren’t proved right about benrahma. You continually called him a championship player - since you branded him that he’s played 110 PL games and a dozen Ligue 1 games. So clearly not a championship player. I have no idea what rubbish you spouted about Moyes, but I’m sure you’ll be the first to admit you’re wrong if we aren’t relegated this season."

Re: Lopetegui
"It's called sharing an informed opinion, goose. It's what discussion boards and forums are for. You may think I am ""making a show"" of myself. But I was proved right about Benrahma, was proved right about Moyes and will be proved right about Lopetegui. Mark my words."
Re: Lopetegui
Major alarm bells when he thinks Soucek should start or that he would be able to get anywhere near Onana and Tielemans Even more watching him do fuck all and gives him 90 mins and lets him have the captains armband

Re: Lopetegui
"""Lopetegui a bad manager. FfS no wonder our fanbase are the number one whipping boys for the media . He's won the Europa league. Was unbeaten in 20 games as Spain's national manager including a 6 0 win against the argies . Took over second bottom wolves just after Xmas 2022 yet still finished ahead of us."" ___ He was SACKED by Porto after not winning any trophies there (quite some achievement given the Portuguese leagues is a two team league), was SACKED by Sevilla and was SACKED by Real Madrid after three months after a DISASTROUS start. Bloke's an utter fraud of a manager."

Re: Lopetegui
"""If you knew anything about man management - you would appreciate it's very difficult to just go in and drop the likes of Coufal/ Soucek straight off the bat"" Is it? We'll just carry on throwing games away until they're in safe space to be dropped. Much better that way. 10 completed passes from Soucek all game, and he played the full 90 mins in the centre of the pitch. It was a typical performance from him. We learnt nothing new in playing him."

brick_lane_batty_boy 11:27 Mon Aug 19 ''If you knew anything about man management - you would appreciate it's very difficult to just go in and drop the likes of Coufal/ Soucek straight off the bat'' Utter dross. Take your David Brent spill elsewhere. This is football with 62000 paying ''customers'' not fucking Woolworths.
