In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.
Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.
He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.
Welcome Graham.

Agree on Ashworth, bring him in and fuck Steidten off and I'd try and pair him with Mourinho, if he fancied it in the Summer. If we were to go for any former Chelsea manager, it's him who could handle our demands more. Potter isn't the answer to what we want long term. His CV at the top is poor, his Football philosophy is mainly boring and nondescript and he doesn't have a good track record in Cup competitions unless it's with a lower tier Swedish side once. Others are more than welcome to believe he's the answer based on very little evidence but I just think this will be further delay in improving things.
Why would anyone respect or take seriously your view on a manager at this level when you were, and continue to be, a fan of Lopetegui??

I agree with that twoleftfeet, however I belive he deserves more criticism
He was the new broom, given a huge budget and he failed to address the deficiencies that any lay person could easily identify.
The reason we paid over the odds for Kilman (and as a result had to give him such a long contract to amortise the cost) was because Lopetegui had obviously made him central to his appointment (our resident chairman of the Lopetegui Fan Club won't have the intelligence to acknowledge this). Soler and Rodriguez aren't up to scratch, Cresswell shouldn't have been given another year, and as for the players that were forced upon him, AWB has proved to be arguably the best signing and he refused to integrate Summerville - the same Summerville who's injury though absence is now being bemoaned. Fullkrug he can have... yet I'm not sure how a man who was so principled that he walked out on Wolves on the eve of the season due to broken promises became so easily fucked over here?

I'm sorry he triggers you so much but unfortunately he was our previous manager and he's going to be discussed, just as Moyes was before him. Try not to be so easily triggered in future.
Lopetegui carries almost as much responsibility as Moyes.
Moyes should have rebuilt the squad after the cup win, he spent that Summer chasing Lingard meanwhile his ageing squad got another year older and another year slower.
Lopetegui came in and just added to the dross with Kilman, Rodriguez and Soler which aged the squad even further.
Potter needs to clear out about 6/7 players, reduce the age of the squad and add some space.
He is up to the job if Sullivan lets him, they also need to bin Steidten and get Ashworth in.

Hopefully now people can appreciate the huge task the last manager had, because the situation wasn't a great deal different. Although at least before we weren't so negative with what we had available and actually has the bollocks to have a go. Now we can't string 2 passes together or hit the target at all in a Home match vs Palace.
The Squad left behind by Moyes and most of the Recruitment under Steidten has been shocking.
How predictable.
You certainly are, Mr Obsessed.. I've previously blamed Lopetegui for signing Freebie Rodriguez, who was all of his own doing and 1 fuck up he has to accept (not that he cost a Fee). 7 year contracts? He doesn't draft player Contracts so what a ridiculous point to raise, like that's his fault. And as bad as Kilman has been, is it any wonder when he's constantly having to play alongside the Greek mess alongside him?? Yes he hasn't covered himself in glory either and has been at fault many times but it isn't a real surprise when he's partnered with that Greek tragedy whilst Todibo continues to be a walking A & E patient whenever he plays or doesn't. And both Steidtens picks.
Back to my initial point, the majority of the Squad is a combination of Moyes shit and Steidten expensive poor signings that are simply not good enough bar some gems and Lopetegui had the least amount of input in to the construction of it all by a distance. If you ain't happy with the general make-up of the Squad, mostly blame Moyes, Steidten and Sullivan before you can then have a go at the likes of Lopetegui's Free Transfer Rodriguez and Kilman..
The only obsession on here is your undying love of Flopetegui. Give it a rest. He's gone
What options did he have that would have made us that much better? Not going to dig him out for not starting Ings or the young Brazilian who are not good enough.
Hes inherited a mess.
until then it’s going to be shit as half the squad should not even play for the club.
any frustration should be towards those above Potter who have been failing in the clubs recruitment. Not Potter himself.

Who made you judge and jury?? The old 'what do you expect' crap. Bore off. What I don't expect is an old man at the back who was finished 3 years ago, a fraudster in midfield, zero shots on target and passing the ball backwards all fucking game against Crystal 'fucking' Palace in front of 60,000 fans freezing their nuts off. That alright with you?
He went with a negative line up against Fulham.

As if Lopetegui isn't responsible for bringing in the worst Argentinian ever to win a world cup winners medal, a once decent midfielder who now flatters to deceive and a carthorse of a defender who we now have for 7 years and who swallowed a third of our transfer budget and for delivering plenty of abject shit himself when he had a full squad from which to select.
Moyes' extra year held us back. Lopetegui's 5 months has set us back

It is very clear to me now that we are a relegation team. And everything that Potter does now must be with relegation in mind. We must win our home games. Yesterday was a disgrace - But to me not unexpected. You can't have such a badly assembled squad and then suffer all those injuries without it having a huge impact. Yesterday was a culmination of the mess. A performance that you would find hard to even score 1/10.

Surprised at the Stick he’s getting already on the Fulham thread.
what are people honestly expecting with what he has available?
don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager of ours have such a lack of options at his disposal.
Hes inherited a mess and this is going to take time.

He went with a negative line up against Fulham. We didn’t play particularly well but got the win. I’m sure he was hoping we would get away with it again. We didn’t.

Potter has been in charge 8 days, in that time he has had 3 games and about 2 days training with the depleted squad.
A squad he inherited, a squad that has players in that he certainly wouldn't have bought, a squad that is old and slow YET still you think he is to blame?
This guy will rebuild us and make us fitter and more competitive, he will bring through the youth and not keep reverting to the deadwood.
To be criticising him after 3 games is insane and I genuinely think you have all been possessed by something.
To those criticising Potter I say, fuck off and come back in a years time you pathetic fucking dickweeds or just join the spurs site and annoy them.
scream what, you oddball cսnt? if he picks eight defensive players against an inferior club at home, he'll get criticism. you clearly didn't watch the fucking game, much like you didn't when your jock hero was sticking ten men behind the ball every week

Today Potter showed us all how little he knows the squad.
Hopefully a lesson learned.
Let’s see how he does with team selection in the coming weeks. Hopefully he figures a few things out before the close of the Jan window.

WOW, just fucking WOW. How can you get something so fucking wrong? That starting line up and first half shit the bed first week of the honeymoon and the divorce lawyer is on speed dial in case he does it again.
It was way to early to get cocky with that experimental shit especially with a squad short on confidence and a crippled offense.
Credit where is due he tried to fix it and when we managed to move the ball we did it competently for a change, faith in the lads Orford and Scarles also appreciated but you've done your goodwill now with that shitshow. There are "green shoots" but 0 shots on target at home to Palace is un-fucking-acceptable.
He ain't getting the bullet for atleast 18 months no matter what happens but if he keeps pulling strokes like that it'll be 18 months that break him for good.

Hard not to agree with this but its a bit of both here. Yes, Creswell should have been sold and replaced. Same with Antonio now they are done at this level. We looked a bit better after the subs came on and before the pen and yes we have to hope Potter realizes he cannot start that same 11 again and is learning, but the facts are we have bought some real duds and we have to address this. Potter gets time and some say on the next signings, the club needs to step up and back him.
