"Or should i say they are attacking to get THEIR land back. Good luck to them. The World will watch and do nothing to help them as they always do, shame on us."

"Hammer and Pickle 8:21 Tue Oct 10 You seem to be all over the place on this one. 'I thought I’d made it abundantly clear that the West would cease to be a collection of normal, open societies capable of rational responses to whatever difficulties they encountered if they started to treat all Muslims as if they were Hamas.' No, mate. You didn't make that clear at all. Although I don't see how such a load of verbiage could be clear to anyone. And contrary to what you falsely claimed, I'm not the only person who didn't take that interpretation, since Westside immediately shot you down in flames. So another lie there. Here is your post: 'especially tricky if we allow the Hamas charter to frame our relations with the next Muslim who happens to hove into view.' We DON'T allow the Hamas charter to frame our relations with all Muslims. So a false premise. You really are an obvious and foolish person."

"Really Pointy? I thought I’d made it abundantly clear that the West would cease to be a collection of normal, open societies capable of rational responses to whatever difficulties they encountered if they started to treat all Muslims as if they were Hamas. It is odd that everyone else seems to have understood my perfectly simple post except you. Have you perhaps been skipping basket weaving therapy again? Hitting those crayons hard with mimmler and O’Cone again maybe?"

"Now, now Pickled. More mendacity from you. You were clearly talking about how the West (I don't know who else you could mean by 'we') treat all Moslems as if they were Hamas. That's was clearly untrue. Now , in an attempt to deflect from your first onvious lie, you are pretending that contributors to this site unequivocally support all of Israel's actions in any circumstances. This is also a lie. Do you really think nobody will spot it when you do this?"

Sorry Pointy - the Israeli regime can’t shift the blame for its own war crimes and atrocities onto Hamas just because of the death-treats contained in Hamas’s charter. That’s just childish symmetrism and it only works on the reactive pointy-headed people in the room like you.

"Hammer and Pickle 6:33 Tue Oct 10 'No, actually we’re talking about whether the Israeli response to Hamas is adiquate and constructive whatever its charter happens to be' No, mate. YOU were talking about how the West uses the Hamas charter as a pretext for not negotiating with Muslims - here: 'especially tricky if we allow the Hamas charter to frame our relations with the next Muslim who happens to hove into view.' Westside totally and effortlessly exposed your nonsensically false premise, so now you are shifting your position to something less obviously untruthful. You really are a horrible mendacious prick."

"c35% of the planets energy came from coal last year, and that was a growth year-on-year. China & India are by a distance the biggest users of coal. Both have more coal burning sites in progress or planned to be built. What the west is doing is building a moat around the coal industry for the next 10 to 20 years. There is huge value in coal investments - ask Daniel Kretinsky."

Rather annoyingly I had a letter from my pension company today informing me that they would no longer be buying shares in companies that mine coal or ones that make weapons and ammunition. Wankers.

"The best explanation I have heard for the situation in Palestine/Israel is that provided by Rory Stewart on the Podcast, “The Rest is Politics.” It was released today, and you can find it on Spotify and other streaming services. This is coming from a person who worked on Kibbutz Bee’ri (the one that was invaded) and has visited the Gaza Strip multiple times. Sorry, I couldn’t provide a link. I have a new phone and haven’t worked out how to do it."

"… especially tricky if we allow the Hamas charter to frame our relations with the next Muslim who happens to hove into view. Why would it? We're talking about Hamas here, who want Israel gone. Israel is more than capable of agreeing terms with Muslims. They have a peace treaty with Egypt, nearly 50 years old for example, which has been honoured. Israel even agreed to let Egyptian forces into the Sinai (de militarised as part of the peace treaty), when Egypt was having problems with militants, attacking Egyptian border guards"
