J Riddle You probably know the answer to this but its because they do not care about their welfare. By keeping the Palestinian issue alive it gives these countries a ''legitimate' stick to beat Israel with on the world scene. It would make the most sense for Egypt to control Gaza not Israel. But the Egypitans do not want to know.

If the UN decided that Israel should be dissolved (its been only been in existence less than 80 years) and a new state called Palisrael formed, where Arabs and Jews are equal, I can't see the Israeli's taking that."

The problem is that one of the actors in this drama does not want a negotiated settlement and that actor is Hamas. They were created and exist for one purpose only - the destruction of Jews and the Islamification of the whole of Israel. And for this reason until Hamas is taken out of the equation and more rational Palestinian voices get heard there can be no resolution. Gaza is about to get obliterated in response, as you would expect. But the Israeli defence minister called ALL Palestinians “animals” as he prepares to starve them out. Not seen this reported on the BBC or CNN. Just need to read it all, I suppose, and see what makes sense."
