Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Ramsdale a massive uninspiring no from me. We've already got a decent shot stopper who is crap with the ball at his feet. Ramsdale has a frantic air about him too IMO.

This smacks of agent talk anyway IMO. Supposedly Potter and more specifically MacCauley are being 'data led' in their targets, with the Club having invested in this area.

Ramsdale's stats are pretty ropey. His wages are expensive. And he wouldn't be cheap either.  Just don't see us signing someone of his ilk to be number 2, and don't see us making a signing that at the outset makes 120k per week Areola number 2.

I think to be fair, Ramsdale is a bit better than Areola and also Fabianski as he is just getting too old. But it's not much of an upgrade and doesn't show much ambition. Sterling would be another expensive Ings bench warmer.

Apart from the fact that Ramsdale is a liability, if we're short of dough why would we lay out 20 large on a keeper? Makes no sense to me, so I'm calling beard on this. We will probably try to loan the cսnt, if anything.

Ramsdale and Sterling thru the door would be solid business.

Aaron Ramsdale is set for salvation after a season from hell by holding talks over a move to West Ham, talkSPORT understands.

The 27-year-old conceded 66 of the Saints 86 goals in their relegation campaign that was almost record-breaking with just 12 points collected - one more than Derby’s all-time low.

Yet his involvement didn’t deter West Ham manager Graham Potter, who remains impressed by Ramsdale’s stints in the top flight at Arsenal, Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

Ramsdale won’t come cheap, though, with Southampton hoping for £20million in exchange for a player they paid £18m for just under a year ago.

However, the south coast team are looking to offload his hefty £100,000 per-week wages as they gear up for their Championship return.

We never fucking learn. 💩

Jesus fucking Christ ferret son! you talking about West Ham or Levy and your lot going all in for him! Or is this one of your wind ups?

Saying that i wouldn't put it past Sullivan! Joked a few weeks ago we would be after KDB and then apparently, we did have a sniff.......

We love an aging player on a free or low fee at the club who we can "big" up as a world beater🤣

As much as I like Kudus, after such a shit season, I'd be happy to take 85M for him, especially if we then got in 3-4 players at a similar level as Guilherme.

Agree,  we need to be signing younger players with potential.

We are just a staking horse in that race. Word coming out of France. Is that we are the first team to "Sat down with Saint-Etienne and discussed the financing of the transfer." That alone. Should tell anyone. This ain't happening.

Even without the distraction of 5 other teams (the promoted 3 plus Man U & Spurs) fishing in the same shallow talent pool to strengthen next season, the best we are ever going to aim for is somewhere between 9th & 12th, augmented by early cup exits.

Sure we'd all like much more success, but the malaise in both the current team and recruitment process runs so deep that a change in our fortunes will have the manoeuvrability of a fully-laden super-tanker on the high seas.

Even "Slowly, slowly catchee monkey" will only have relevance to our performance if the monkey's legs are tied together at the knees.

In reality, having finished near the bottom of the Premiership, not being a team known for constant European football and winning trophies over the years (for example Spurs and Man U), do any of us think we are going to get in any top quality players?

El Scorchio" wrote: 04 Jun 2025, 12:41 Nothing wrong with selling Kudus for a profit if you have a succession plan in place and a young player ready to replace them either already in the squad or an identified target. We NEVER do which is where we fall over.

This is what Brighton particularly have managed to do with huge success relative to the size of club they are. Lose Caicedo and MacAllister? No problem. Step forward next young player off the line who cost them fuck all two years ago and will be worth multitudes more in two years time, while the team barely misses a beat.
Great talent spotting and most of them recruited with a specific purpose in mind.

Exactly right.

The one time we sorted this out, we recruited an expert who got us Kudus who we can sell at a big profit, and Guilherme who can replace him.

Then we sacked him because we didn't get instant success and we've already gone back to the old way.

It's pathetic.
