"""We were always known as a soft touch because we STRIVED to play football.....you however call that bollocks."" We were a oft touch because we were shit by and large, it had fuck all to do with how we played football. Hope that clears it up for you"

"Fwiw, I wouldn't really want to play like Brighton, I like high tempo like Liverpool and Villa play. Brighton and the war criminal can fuck off."

twoleftfeet doesn't care about the style football. So god knows why he thinks he some expert on it. He listed the seasons he's enjoyed the other day. They were the only seasons where we won anything (which is unfortunate for him as he's barely enjoyed himself the last 40 years). He doesn't care about the style of football. He your typical teletext fan.

"Feet has a point that lots of passing back and forth, sideways and backwards can get tedious although the very best teams largely employ that approach and win most of the honours. We just need to be capable of getting and keeping the ball better. Im hooing Phillips replacing Soucek will help with that. We shall see soon enough"

"Worse style of football? Did you watch Brighton vs Wolves the other day? I'd much rather watch our style than the tippy tappy, play out from the back, 50 passes till you reach the half way line shit that I saw."

Steve Jones scored a good goal against West Brom back in the day. Don't diss him so easily.

"We have some top class/bordering world class talent already on our books, we've got players on over £100k a week on the bench, we're signing starting England internationals to join them, yet some think it's ok to play the worst style of football in the whole league because we were shit when we had Steve Jones up front back in the day."

"Nagel - exactly that, we're where we should be based on our squad and expenditure. We're the only team where we should be based on our squad and expenditure that plays the way we do. As Jaan pointed out below all those praising Moyes and telling us to be careful what we wish for, none of them wants him at their club, they think it's beneath them which is exactly how they look down on us. Danny Murphy thinks spurs deserve Ange because their fans deserve attacking football, but we're West Ham and can't expect to compete against the likes of spurs and play good football. Rio Ferdinand .. Calling the fans out when he hated Moyes at Man U... Where are all the other clubs trying to nick this amazing manager this miracle worker from us.."

"This club sold its home (some would say its soul) on the promise that it would provide the extra revenue to push us into European places. Fact is, the extra money has built us a squad which should easily finish 6th-10th every season, no matter what the style of play. We don't need to play the type of football more commonly employed by the underdogs desperately trying to keep themselves in the division. It's embarrassing that we do. We've lost not only our home, but our whole identity (even if you think it's a myth, our identity is that of a footballing club). If we wanted to just be the new Bolton or Everton we could have stayed at Upton Park."

Its obvious Lionel Scaloni is using tge Argentina job as a stepping stone for a triumphant return to West Ham where he will right the wrong of the Gerrard equaliser in 2006. *** taps nose ***

"I get that, Joyo. I believe many have forgotten the many seasons of dour football, and just remember the odd years where we played exciting stuff, albeit whilst struggling in the league. When Pellegrini arrived I thought 'here we go, next level', but that turned out to be yet another false dawn. I'm on the fence with Moyes, and can see both sides to the argument. We can certainly do better, but how many men have left their wives for a younger, sexier model, only to be left broke, in despair, and homeless a year or two later."

"1.15 Billion and Man U still can't get into the top 6. Incredible. I remember Martin Peters going from us to the Spuds for £200,000 and it was headline news. That converts to £2.5 million in 2024."

"We need and Emery, Arteta, big Ange or De Zerbi type. but to be fair all those 4 were a punt to a certain extent, came from smaller clubs or had limited managerial experience, Arteta for example had never been a manger as far as i know, granted he was Peps number 2 but often a great number 2 doesn't always make the step up! I would hope we go for Alonso, but not sure he would see us as an upgrade on high flying Leverkusen."

"That's kind of the point. Newcastle are 9th in my list. If we have aspirations to come higher, then we need better."

"Stubba, that means fuck all, you could substitute Eddie Howe or Thomas Frank and get almost identical results. And i would suspect every manger form clubs on that list of Newcastle Downwards would be worse than Moyes, seriously with maybe the exception of Frank which clubs from Newcastle above would change for a manger from Newcastle down? And thats with the bald fraud at ManU included!!!!"

"Which clubs in the league woukd readily (fans or owners) swap their current manager for Moyes? Liverpool - No Arsenal - No Man City - No Spurs - No Villa - No Brighton - No Man Utd - No Chelsea - No Newcastle - No Fulham - No Palace - Yes Forest - Maybe Burnley - Maybe Luton - Yes Wolves - Maybe Bournemouth - Maybe Brentford - No Everton - Maybe Sheff Utd. - Yes If that doesn't tell you where we are at with our manager and why we should be looking to improve that part of the club then I don't know what will. Despite the period of relative success (to our history) and the unparalleled period of success for the incumbent, the clamour for him at other clubs would still be close to non-existant. He's done well by us, but his attitude and football approach is incredibly unattractive."

Eerie Descent 7:47 Wed Jan 24 Yeah it's amazing how many 'experts' overlook our expenditure - 10th in Europe - and talk up our results as if it's some miracle work by a genius that couldn't be bettered by any other manager. Yet not one of the same experts talk about Moyes deserving a bigger job. https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/highest-net-spend-since-2013-europe-cies-man-utd-chelsea-psg-arsenal

"Scum, what Lyall and Greenwood tried to do isn't bollocks and a fair bit of the time they achieved it just enough to get a run going to win things better things than a cup win playing League 1 standard European teams. We were always known as a soft touch because we STRIVED to play football.....you however call that bollocks. Have a nice downer outlook on West Ham's football history as it's just you and it's an internet forum it matters not a lot.....my opinion likewise.....ho-hum....."

"Funny how things change. 1-2 years ago, loads on here wetting their knickers about the owners not spending money and ruining the club. All seems to have gone quiet on that front in favour of a new thing to get pissy vaginas over."
