"Roeders Jacket 3:00 Fri 11th Nov I'm delighted with the Droidsmart system, their wizard for updates etc though I've customised mine quite a lot to suit my own requirements As you say a lot of their stuff you don't need or are ever likely to use For example, I've uninstalled all the cartoons & kiddies stuff that I don't want (Simply go into your Add-ons in maintenance & unistall what you don't want) You should be on Kodi v16.1 now, by the way, with Droidsmart! (Go to their website & see the video on how to do it, it's not difficult) I could find no instructions anywhere for the following bits so had to work it out by myself by trial & error:- To customise the Add-ons that appear on your opening pages:- Maintenance>Skin>Add-on Shortcuts Click on add-on you want to change (eg Zem TV) (click on Zem TV) Click Video Add-ons (on right hand side) Scroll down to the add-on you want to replace Zem TV with (eg SportsDevil) Click on your desired add-on (say SportsDevil) A keyboard will appear which will show (with new label) Click ""Done"" Make all your changes following the above steps Then click on home logo at bottom right of screen NOW IMPORTANT! To SAVE the changes you have made click on the circle with the line at 12 o'clock in the bottom left of the screen, next to the star (if you don't do this your changes will not be saved!!) Re-Open Kodi to check or make further changes To Change the Background Artwork:- Maintenance>Skin>Background Artwork Now choose which Background to change (eg TV, Movies, Sport etc) by moving up/down arrows in ""Background Path"" Next click ""Single Image"" click External Storage click Android click Data click org.xmbc.kodi click files click kodi click backgrounds Now scroll down to find desired background for the chosen field click on it now click home logo at bottom right of screen NOW SAVE CHANGES by:- clicking circle with line at 12 o'clock in bottom left of screen re-open Kodi It took me ages to suss out that you need to click the button in the bottom left corner, that looks like a power off switch, to save changes I kept making changes & couldn't understand why they weren't being saved! Really infuriating I also added AresWizard (which makes day to day maintenance easy!) & Halow to my setup but it's all about personal preferences Kodi Michael's website is brilliant for adding stuff like that if you haven't already found it Don't know if any of this helps, but it's just my experience as a relative newbie"

El Scorchio 6:57 Sat Nov 12 It should be the same - other than your using an expensive laptop compared to a dedicated box. Also depends upon how powerful your laptop is - especially if you are playing a 1080p streams/movies. You're not going to be able to do anything else on your laptop whilst watching anything. It is a very good way to get started and learn and understand Kodi and once you get into it you'll realise that having a dedicated box (or boxes - I have 3 Raspberry Pi in different rooms) is a lot less hassle than digging the laptop out and plugging it in.

Has anyone noticed the avaialibilty of films of exodus has dropped dramatically recently? The film app with sportsnation is ok but very slow for searching. Anyone able to shed any light on this?

"I'm looking to get started with all this, but have a quick question. As opposed to buying a box or another device to stream through, can I just run and view it straight through my laptop and then connect the laptop to a tv if I want? Will it give me as good a viewing experience as using a dedicated box?"

I've just got a MXq box. Is it possible to record on kodi or use it like a TiVo box and set it to record automatically? Thanks

"Over the past few months I’ve been buying MX3 Boxes for my mates (approx £35) , removing the pre-bundled stuff and installing Kodi 16, plus the 2 or 3 add-on’s pretty much in my sleep. It looks via E-Bay that they now go for about £50 and you have to buy via Droid Smart who have the license to see these in the UK. Question I have is that these appear to come with their own build / homepage etc pre-installed, when ideally I wanted the same home screen (Media Box-Launcher)/ Kodi lay-out that I’m used to. Has anyone got a Droid Smart MX3 box and can advise if it’s easy enough to remove the Droid Smart stuff or is it easy enough to strip out the add-on’s I don’t need etc. My intention is to simplify things for my mates (Sportsnation HD / Exodus / Ultimate WhiteCream) who are starting from scratch and avoid countless call’s saying this box is sh*t. Any help appreciated. RJ"

"Ted 2:02 ~ I think you're better off simply switching the input back to DTV or similar for ""normal channels"" rather than watching them through Kodi, though the ""Live Mix"" app will also give you the terrestrial channels too The apps I would personally recommend on Kodi are:- Exodus / Velocity / SALTS for movies BBC I-Player / ITV I-Player for TV catchup SportsNationHD (subscription channel Ôø?1 per week) for sport (live matches all Sky / all BT sports) Great for all EPL matches but for minor games (lesser interest cup games / friendlies etc) I use :- SportsDevil > Live TV > Hunt out the best stream on the day (Dimsports / Bundesliga / FirstSports etc) Obviously it's all down to personal preference, which is the great thing about Kodi!"

"WorldCupWilly 1:53 ~ Thanks again for that advice. Just to say that I had a bit of trouble getting those particular adapters at Currys but managed in the end They came up as ""Out of Stock"" on delivery orders & also at our nearest in store branch. I tried the next nearest store about 30 miles away & luckly thet still had some in. I got 2 pairs, so all sorted now. The guy said they were selling out really fast, so anyone planning to do the same thing, don't hang about! I noticed exactly the same adapters in Asda but they were about Ôø?10 dearer per pair!"

Ted - alternatively either download the film on app from Google or go to mobdro.com and download their app direct to your android box without the need to use kodi Plenty of live channels on those 2
