Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.
Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

the counter argument is that only 1 PL club made an operating profit LY outside of player trading - and that was us.
we make that profit in part because we dont own a stadium.

goose, but he/they knew that before moving us to that shithole in stratford. it was all done on lies, the next level was bullshit and the way they've wasted money (on depreciating talent due to shit managers) was always unsustainable. he/they either need to sell up, or attract increasingly more negativity and hatred from those still bothering to go over there

if we do not sell Kudus + a few others then we're fucked. we are basically sat around waiting for them to decide their futures before we can do anything. meanwhile we will likely miss out on players that we really want/need.
on the point of ownership, Sullivan just doesn't have the money to run a PL club. His biggest asset is the club and it doesnt make any money. I'm not going to blame him for not wanting to throw his own money down the toilet, but he must realise that he cannot afford to move the club on.
problem is, the top 6 have locked down the league with PSR so nobody can actually come in and invest in a club.
next season will be a right laugh...........

Have i missed something? If we ship out JWP for £15m and get Brownhill in on a free how is that not good business?
JWP is bang average, good stats, mainly from set pieces at Southampton which he has dried up at.
Its a like for like with £15m in the bank to buy someone else.
I'd take that.
But who's going to pay that for JWP? He hasn't been linked to anyone and seemed a Potter favourite towards the end of the season.
I figured we're getting Brownhill to flip him as soon as possible for PSR.
Might be wishful thinking, but any cash for JWP and getting a replacement on a free is good business from us. Brownhill seems to get around the pitch, just had his best goal scoring season and seems great in the dressing room and was captain in a side that got promoted.
Happy with the deal to bulk out an area that we need numbers in if it means funds can go elsewhere.
Looks like we've missed out on Egan- Reilly though to Marseille, which is massively disappointing. Again area we need, home grown and great season last year......what are we doing letting him go there?!
I think it's more of a case he's been enticed by the prospect of playing in the Champions League with them.

Surprised how many people turning their nose up at Brownhill. Admittedly not the most exciting signing but will be a strong squad option, I am sure he won't be the only one that we buy in central midfield.
Someone we should be all over is Tanganga from Millwall. Will be good to get a strong English base in there again

Yep, the last time he got a young promising Striker, he hardly used them. He'd only end up keeping Duran on the Bench for 4 years.

It's becoming clearer now why Potter was given that longer deal, rather than the initial alleged six month trial . Keep your trap shut, don't make a sound about transfers and do as your told. All that "The Board couldn't have done more for me" bollocks in January. Only given that flash useless cսnt Ferguson, and nothing since. Suddenly we go from bidding 50m+ for Duran, to being skint. Openly telling your playing squad they're free to go. And all the whole the loyal glove puppet cunts like Whetstone, Ex, Steinberg, Etc continuing to wind up the masses for the benefit of that 4ft shitbag & his tory peer accomplice

Duran rumours will help appease fans as we try to ramp up season ticket sales while not spending a bean and pleading poverty while we wait for clubs to meet our unrealistic fees on “for sale” players. Another 4-6 weeks before any action at best. All points to a bunch of last minute transfer deals after the season has kicked off, Potter and Macaulay targets conveniently missed and Sullivan being the master “gatekeeper” and filling the gaps with freebies, loans and bargain deals via his network of “trusted” ( cough) agents.
Let's call it what it is...Sullivan filling his bank account with Club funds from kickbacks through dealing with agents he has a personally beneficial relationship with (allegedly...my lawyers have instructed SWT).

I don't particularly want Brownhill either, but any comparison needs to look at career trajectory. 1 goal in 15 for Ward-Prowse last year and he's got progressively less productive since 2021-22. For your historical stats to stand up you'd need to see a significant improvement next season and I for one ain't hopeful
Ward-Prowse shouldn't have been loaned out last season by Lopetegui, Steidten or whether it was a joint decision, as the season before last he produced decent results in his debut season for us.
Prem League - 7 G 7 A
Europa League - 4 A
18 Goals made altogether
Helped us reach 9th in the Prem as well as the Europa Quarters losing to Leverkusen. Brownhill has never made such an impact at that level and I'm not hopeful he'll get near what Ward-Prowse produced.
I don't even strongly dislike Brownhill, he seems like an honest hard working OK squad player. I'm more angry with the Club resorting to basement deals for average players because we are run like a 2bob amateur Club at times by Sullivan.
That all being said should he likely rock up I hope he can take his decent form from the Championship and continue in much the same vein. Looking at his career though he'll be bucking a trend to achieve it.
Well you can lead a horse to water but you can't stop him blubbing incessantly at the beginning of June. If you're this upset now you're gonna need to strap in, cos it's going to be a long summer for you.
I'm not sure you're cut out for this.

Yeah, it shouldn't really be a discussion as to which of the two might be better for us. I'd love us to be aiming higher then both of them, but I don't particularly rate Ward-Prowse and I don't like his age profile

There's really no comparison. As I posted the other day 1 of them pisses all over the others ability to both score and make goals for others. And with that in mind I know who'd I'd sooner have here out the two.
Prem records -
Ward-Prowse
404 apps 57 goals 47 assists
1 goal produced every 3 games
Brownhill
111 apps 6 goals 6 assists
1 goal produced every 9 games
18 goals (15 without pens)? All in the Championship which of course isn't the level of the Premier League where he's produced very little.
No coincidence either that Ward-Prowse was a part of Teams last season that won at Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and drew at Chelsea.
You're more than welcome to lap up Brownhills ability in the Championship though.

Brownhill ain't exciting and won't be starting but if you can't see that this is a relatively shrewd move for zero pounds then there's probably no hope for you. Probably the same people that hated Dawson.
Scores goals, can put it about a bit, can get up and down and is a trier. This combination of characteristics don't exist in any other player in our current squad.
We've already got that in the side with Ward-Prowse and Soucek and both a level above Brownhills quality at a similar age. Yes he'll cost us nothing (music to Sullivans ears) but it's hardly a signing that changes anything. I'd sooner see the likes of Earthy and Potts given a proper go now in the Squad, as well as Irving so I don't see a real need for Brownhill.
If we were to add in that area of the pitch I'd much rather see us go for a lot better quality as a statement of what we want to do. Genuinely fast, highly energetic who could make more goals than Brownhills previously poor Premier League output and 1 much younger than 30 this year. I thought 1 of the main issues was to also considerably lower the age of the Squad with new additions?
For the record I loved Dawson and was 1 of the few that said he'd pleasantly surprise and produce some serious results and performances for us. I don't see Brownhill being in that bracket though, who has only excelled more in the Championship.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not excited by Brownhill but can at least see through the tears enough to notice that while JWP is tidy, he doesn't really score many goals, doesn't really get up and down or put his foot in but he is undoubtedly a good egg. Soucek, scores goals for sure, will put his foot in but can't get up and down for shit. Brownhill can score, can get stuck in, get up and down, wants to be at the club. Fills a gap we don't have from the bench.
We're desperately shopping JWP and Alvarez (no goal threat, can't get up and down, will stick his foot in, thinks he's too good for us) around to whoever is stupid enough to take them. Soucek will be allowed to leave by the idiot Potter when Moyes offers a tenner for him. There's plenty of room to fill in that midfield. Brownhill is effectively the replacement for Irving who will also get shopped around this summer. Clearly an upgrade.
cսnt scored 18 goals last season. If his name was Carlos Wanquez from Deportivo Spickorado you'd be all over it.
Yeah the window is not looking too promising but getting all tearful over a relatively shrewd signing in the context of the mega rebuild we have on our hands must be fucking tiring. Do better you cսnt.
Brownhill can score?
JWP - 404 Prem appearances, 57 goals
Brownhill - 101 Prem appearances, 6 goals
