Daily Quiz anyone?

Post easthammer »

"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"They are difficult questions East, hence the word ""recorded"". I had one I was going to use the other day about which artist had six number one songs from one album or something similar but different sites listed different people so I left it out as it was too ambiguous. Anyway after Mad Dog had a hard time with horses I did promise him a film quiz. If he doesn't get 10 I'll be very disappointed!! ;-) Films 1. Who plays Tom Hagen - lawyer, advisor and unofficial adopted member of the Corleone family - in The Godfather? 2. Which 1993 legal thriller film starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington is based on a 1992 novel by John Grisham? 3. HandMade Films was formed by former Beatle George Harrison in 1978 to finance the making of which movie? (It was very controversial to some at the time!) 4. Who is the only actor to receive an Oscar nomination for acting in a Star Wars film? 5. What is the name of the commercial spaceship in 1979’s Alien? 6. Which actor played Private Ryan in Saving Private Ryan? 7. In which country was the entire trilogy of Lord of the Rings filmed? 8.What is the name of the fictional town in California that serves as the setting of the Back to the Future trilogy? 9. For three points name the three “sex symbol” actresses whose posters were on the wall of Andy Dufresne’s cell over the years of his incarceration in The Shawshank Redemption? 10. In 1984 we were introduced to the characters Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore. What were they collectively known as and for a bonus four points which actors played them? You DON’T have to match the actor to the character."

"I just had a look at the list and I am pleased to see that my answer which technically was wrong because of ""recorded"" in the wording was otherwise logically correct. I thought the biggest animal i.e the Blue Whale would have the strongest bite. There is some evidence from Orcas in captivity that their bite is estimated to be over 19000 psi. Blue Whales are a lot bigger okay not much in the way of teeth but I guess their jaws still work! Anyway all guess work nothing recorded :)"

"I've looked into that question again as it's ""strongest bite force ever recorded"" and fdound there is some debate over whether it's a Saltwater Crocodile or a Nile Croc, so as I say just Crocodile will do. Hyenas, Hippos, Grizzly's, etc are all on the list...."
