Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Sullivan has allegedly said he is better at identifying players than Steidten and previous peiole that were at the club like Husilos and Newman.  This has always been Sullivan’s view and why he does not want or believe we need a DOF. Its also why he only made Steidten a Tech Director and why he, Lopetegui and Steidten had 3 picks each last summer.  No other club operates this way.

Macaulay and Potter are about to find out that Sullivan controls everything. Firstly we aint buying anyone until we sell because we have no cash. He’s on holiday so that confirms we aint buying in this mini window until 10th June.  He will then wait to try to tet £85 million for Kudus, £25 million for Aguerd and as much as possible for the likes of Soucek, Emerson, Todibo, Mavro, Alvarez, Fullkrug anyone to get £100 million in cash in the pot. Clubs wont be offering what he wants and the delay to our business will continue. Then it will be late in the window before we buy anyone. Potter and Macaulay targets will either be gone or Sullivan will say they are too young, lack Premiership experience etc.  Sullivan handles negotiations. He can also scupper any deal with derisory bids, insistence on unrealistic terms, payment plans and refusal to pay agents etc

It will all lead to last minute deals imo which will mean “conveniently” having to use Sullivans agents and hence the “bargains” and his choices.

A miserable, depressing scenario? Might not happen some will say? Hopefully not but its what always happened before or most seasons he was de facto DOF.

I get the principle but Walker Peters isn't what I'd call young... neither is Ramsdale particularly

I get the reservations about him but we wouldn’t stand a chance if there wasn’t any. Fabianski was less effective at Arsenal and got relegated with Swansea.

Has been known Ferret son😃

Would have thought you had more pressing matters right now though, who (or will) could replace big Ange for your lot?

But yeah im a bit pessimistic West Ham right now, not least as we got ourselves in great position to step up after that Cup final win and the Rice money but what did we do? Keep a manager a season too long, fuck up the replacement and piss a good portion of the Transfer budget up against a wall, 1 step forward and then 2 back, typical West Ham😑

Be very surprised if we do any business in this first part of the transfer window, it's just something that our owners won't do? As to transfer targets im sure we have some but let's face it they will be unrealistic in part as we won't want to pay a premium to get the RIGHT player, more wait until August and try and get them on the cheap or go after left overs from the bigger clubs once they have done their business, it's just the West Ham way!

As to a new keeper, surely, we have more pressing issues, but who the fuck knows with Potter and Sullivan🤷‍♂️

As you may have guessed im not optimistic! this thread will run for pages and pages with rumour and wishful thinking but in reality, does anyone think we will be pulling up trees?

I think all 4 would be very serviceable in the championship and I can't imagine many premier league teams would want them.

I have read it's Ramsdale due to his ball playing skills,a you tube video shows his passing skills are way better than Soucek.
I would have preferred Kelleher but whatever happens we need a new keeper.

also, considering how many teams he's been on that have been relegated, he has a strange air of arrogance about him and I found it very weird when his old man got involved in the arsenal stuff when he lost his place. no, it will be a nightmare if and when he arrives

Ramsdale. A man who's position relies on concentration yet he readily admits he finds concentrating difficult. If we sign him it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Potter, Brady and Sullivan are a match made in their own heaven. Absolutely no ambition whatsoever. Why are we still rummaging around in Southampton's bins? the stench of the last useless article from that dump still permeates the ground.

Agree.

What's the point of Ramsdale?  Was binned by Arsenal as not good enough with the ball at his feet.  We have one of those in Areola already.

At best he'd bring a 'voice' into the backline as Areola is clearly far too quiet.

Given Areola is on 120k per week, I'll be mindblown if we opt for another frontline keeper....we can't really sensibly have two keeper on a combined 200k in the squad.

More likely....a punt on a keeper on much lower wages as 2nd in line, who is more comfortable on the ball and could take Areola's spot by end of next season (when he's got one year left on his deal and might be easier to shift).

Apparently Fabianski wants to retire and have a break before doing some coaching....so extending him wasn't really an option.

Mad Ferret" wrote: 02 Jun 2025, 09:58 Surely Foderingham isn't good enough to be 2nd choice?

He was just signed to be the home-grown 3rd choice who trains with the team and who never gets a game, unless an injury-crisis/suspensions.
All correct, but we can't sell him before getting a better keeper, because then our backup to Areola is a youth and we can't buy the better one first because then we'd have too many. Nobody is going to accept a deal for their goalie on a cash plus Foderingham basis so we should ust forget all about the GK position for this window.

Our transfer funds are meant to be limited.

Strengthening our reserve GOALTENDER is well down on my list of priorities.
