Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"I was ambivalent over the appointment of Lopetegui, but having read some of the recent articles on him and watching some interviews with him from the last couple of months I'm definitely warming to him. I suppose I had been romanced with thoughts of football being played by the architects of Amorim or Fonseca, but Lopetegui is a big step up from Moyes and as long as we invest in the squad and trust that Steidten can find a couple more as good as Kudus & Alvarez, then the future may well be bright. One concern is that Lopetegui likes playing out the back and watching Zouma & Ogbonna attempting that could give us all grey hair"

"Im hoping that the change to presing and trying to win the midfield will give opportunities to Downes and Freddie Potts? I watched a couple of Southampton games and Downes was very effective in a team that has more possession ( which Southampton do ). I think Potts, like Downes were top in their respective leagues for passing accuracy and Downes was also top for interceptions which would be achieved via pressing. Lopetegui likes his teams to dominate the middle of the park I read? Of course we need others to be able to turn possession into chances. Will need more players with pace and good engines. I dont see Soucek hanging around"

Winning the Champions League would be a awfully nice cushion blow for any team. However. Being the guy running the show when you failed to win the league after such a streak. Will most likely be the one too take responsibility. Can’t see that being the Bayern Board.?

I wonder if they try to keep Tuchel if they win the Champs League? Seems mad to get rid of him if they do that.

"Bayern offered the job to Ralf Rangnick, so hardly the biggest stretch of the imagination to think they might have enquired about the former Spain, Real Madrid & Sevilla manager."

Eerie Descent 1:34 Wed May 8 Same. I just want us to control games more and set up to go and win. I am also looking forward to taking my daughter and she doesn't have to sit and watch our opponent play football for an hour of the 90 mins.

"Coffee, yeah he does like projects. He said this after the Wolves job, back in December: ""The most important thing to feel like you have a project you can put your stamp on it, where you can work and improve the performance of the whole club - if you ask me, I'd like this kind of challenge and to be able to achieve each aim the club has. ""When you accept a challenge, it's not just about the players and the way you want to play… I think you have to understand where you are, what's the culture of the club and the history too. ""I think it's important to be able to create the right environment in each club - it's not easy, it's not just the players but the environment for the whole club, if you don't do that, it's very difficult, it's impossible in my opinion."""

A project is only as good as results. I assume the board want to be back in Europe winning cups and in the top 6 every year to attract a big money bidder.
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"We will never know. One thing, though. Apparently he was originally sold the Wolves job in part because it involved a project. Maybe e's inherently attracted to projects."

At least with Matt Dawson we can pick the fucking ball up and run with it.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Stubbo, that's my main worry with him. I'm not worried at all about us being worse, we're going to be a much better team under him, and better to watch without a doubt. But how much better is the thing. We're currently the worst team to watch in the league, we are a sitting duck team, so improvement of any sort won't be hard tbf. I'd love us to be swashbuckling, but we won't see that. However, I am looking forward to watching us control football matches at home, be the dominant team most of the time, passing the football on the floor. After the last 2 years, that will be a welcome relief. Following on from that, who knows, he clearly adores English football, and maybe he'll adapt his team more to suit the English game. Most important thing for me is he wants to be at the club, has been watching us for ages and will have a very clear and definite plan of what we need. We've all got to hope he'll be good for the club, and gets off to a good start. You can almost guarantee it'll be Man City first game up, and the inevitable meltdown will take place after we lose, but I'll be giving him a good deal of time before getting the knives out. Looks like some won't put them away regardless, but each to their own."

"I have the impression Lopetegui and his agents have been buttering up Sullivan for a while. And the gullible idiot probably fell for everything, like he normally does with agents."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"According to KUMB Re: Julen Lopetegui's impending appointment. Despite all the rumour-mongering, speculation and column inches, he'd agreed to take the job some time ago. At least one prospective signing - who was not particularly enamoured by the prospect of working with the current incumbent......was told Lopetegui would be replacing Moyes this summer. This is why on KUMB we've only ever run with Lopetegui as a viable candidate to replace DM. Everything else was, and is, essentially pie in the sky."
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Stubbo, I don't speak for everyone, but I know what I want with the new manager. In terms of the style of football, it does not have to be incredibly attacking, free-flowing, on-the-ground football. It just has to be played in a way that suggests we are trying to play with the ball and trying to win. None of this standing off and hoping for a chance on the counter. I can even accept that occasionally if we are playing the likes of Man City. But it can't be our go-to tactic that we employ against the bottom teams at home as well. I just want us to have more respect for our own team and players than for our opponents."
